Things To Do Whilst Visiting Bath, England

There is so much to see and do in the lovely city of Bath and the beautiful countryside surrounding it.  Bath is an ideal location for a holiday, whatever the time of year and whatever the weather.

Designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage City, Bath has some of the finest architectural sites in Europe, an excellent selection of museums and attractions. There are 5,000 listed buildings in our lovely city, many of which have become world famous, such as The Circus, The Royal Crescent, the iconic Pulteney Bridge – the only bridge with shops on it apart from the famous Pontvecchio, Florence, on which it is modelled.

Entertainment and nightlife

The Theatre Royal – a 200 years old Georgian building widely recognised “the loveliest theatre in Europe” has a wide programme of music, drama and comedy throughout the year. The Komedia cabaret theatre features live comedy and other entertainment which you can enjoy whilst having dinner. Bath, of course, is famous as a “City of Festivals” with music and other entertainment festivals taking place throughout the year. There is also a wide choice of “night life” options.

Wellow Trekking Centre – fun activities for all the Family

Wellow Trekking Centre specialises in creating action packed days for those of all ages

Adults can enjoy the experience of field or target archery. If that’s not your thing then you can always try your hand at clay pigeon shooting and perfect your aim.

Archery may be combined with either clay pigeon shooting or horse riding

Children can spend the day at Frank’s Farm and visit all the working animals and pets on the farm.

Wellow Trekking Centre is also located on the Colliers Way cycle route and to help you experience the route bikes are available for hire at a nominal fee.

Bailey Balloons

Bailey Balloons offer hot air balloon flights from Bath and Bristol. Bailey Balloons is run by Jo and Clive Bailey who are both passionate balloonists and pride themselves on their friendly personal approach, and excellent customer service.

A wealth of experience, an unblemished safety record and a clear passion for ballooning has earned Bailey Balloons a fantastic reputation in the Ballooning World. Clive is also the weather advisor for the Western Region Balloon Club and the Flight Director at the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta where he is responsible for the launch of over 150 balloons! Jo Bailey carried out the spectacular stunt for the New Land Rover advertising campaign.

With a fleet of different size balloons that fly regularly, they have versatility and are able to tailor make each experience and accommodate any number of guests.

Develop your cooking skills

Whilst enjoying a few days holiday in Bath you can attend a cookery school to help develop your cooking skills. The Vegetarian Cookery School has courses not only in vegetarian cooking but also other dishes including in the Spring making chocolate. The Cookery School is based in the centre of Bath, near to Demuths Restaurant in a wonderful Georgian building, with a super purpose built kitchen, light and airy and the best views of Bath Abbey. The cookery school is run by Rachel Demuth, the owner of the award winning Demuths Restaurant. Since 2001 she has been running an exciting and varied selection of courses for mixed abilities from complete beginner to accomplished cook.
