Wookey Hole Caves

Just a short distance from the spa town of Bath in Wells is Wookey Hole Caves. Legend says that the caves are the home of the infamous witch of Wookey, which is actually a very human shaped outcrop of rock that is said to have been a witch that was turned to stone by a monk in years gone by.

The caves are formed from the erosion of limestone rock over centuries and have been used by people for over 50,000 years for various things, including the maturing of Cheddar cheese due to the stable and cool temperature of the cave. Also at Wookey Hole Caves is a fantastic 19th century paper mill, now used to house attractions that are suitable for all ages. Explore, play and have fun at the caves, then wander over to the other attractions which include soft play areas, a magical mirror maze and many more fun things to keep both adults and kids amused.
