Two Tunnels Greenway

Autumn can be the perfect time of year to get active, as often the countryside is at its most beautiful but you won’t have to worry about the crowds (or getting all hot and sweaty on a warm summer’s day!). The Two Tunnels Greenway is one of Bath’s best-loved cycle routes, and it doesn’t only make for a gorgeous place for a leg stretch but it also makes use of a railway route that was forgotten for decades.

The two tunnels trail connects Bath and Wellow, and as it’s one of the area’s safest routes it’s perfect for families looking to enjoy a bike ride and take in the scenery along the way. The tarmac trails mean cyclists can enjoy a smooth ride from beginning to end, and another advantage of cycling what was once a railway line is that there are no real hills to face either.

You’ll have guessed from the name that the routes are based around two old railway tunnels, and cycling through either of them is a real experience that takes up to ten minutes! From the eerie atmosphere within them to the classical music that’s piped through to entertain people passing through, the tunnels and their surrounding trails are great Bath experiences for guests of bed and breakfasts in Bath.
