The parks and gardens of Bath

Spa breaks in Bath are perfect for those of you who love pulling on the walking boots and enjoying the Great Outdoors. There are some beautiful parks and gardens within an easy walk of the city centre, so whether you just fancy some time out from exploring the landmarks or you make a day of it they’re easy to explore in your own time.

You’ll recognise Prior Park Landscape Garden as its Palladian bridge is a famous Bath landmark. That’s not where the romance of this quiet spot stops though, with a Serpentine lake and historic sites dotted throughout this is the park for a stroll hand in hand.

Royal Victoria Park is every bit as grand as you’d expect it to be, and as it sprawls over a distance of 57 acres there’s plenty of it to enjoy. It’s just below the Royal Crescent, so bear this one in mind for a wander and a picnic during a visit to the elegant street. If you are looking for impressive views then head to Parade Gardens…the traditional bandstand makes it a summer highlight and you can soak in the sight of the River Avon and Pulteney Bridge while you rest.
