Bath preparing for Paralympic Lantern Arrival

Bath preparing for Paralympic Lantern ArrivalExcitement is still buzzing in Bath for London 2012, and anyone staying in a b and b in Bath on 25th August will be able to see some fantastic entertainment along with some of Bath’s most inspirational people.

The Paralympic lantern will be heading through Bath on the 25th, leading a special Rio Carnival procession to the Recreation Ground for 3.30pm. The carnival procession will draw upon all the colour and magnificence of a Brazilian carnival, and several workshops held earlier in the month will be producing the stunning handmade costumes.

The carnival and lantern will be leaving Holburne Museum at 2pm, the lantern being carried by eight inspirational individuals who have greatly contributed to the Bath community. The lantern will then be placed on the stage by Paralympic medallist Steve Brunt MBE for the duration of the fun celebration events at the Recreation Ground, which will include bands, choirs and dancing.

The evening of events in the Recreation Ground will be ticketed, but details of how to apply for these have yet to be released. You can still get ahead of the game by booking your Bath bed and breakfast early and start getting excited about joining in the biggest celebration in the country.
