What people say about us…

“Great Place for a Break in Bath”

An excellent room, service and breakfast made this a great place to stay for our trip to bath. Great value as we booked via Travelzoo who had/have a special offer on. I would recommend anyone to stay here especially for the welcome you receive and great customer service. We stayed in room 225 which was a large room which had a 4 poster bed and view over the garden. A thoroughly good experience.

“Lovely break with excellent staff and food.”

My friend and I had an amazing deal at this hotel. We thought the young gentleman who greeted us upon arrival was excellent. Friendly and welcoming. Our room was old fashioned, but in keeping with the decor and us. Nevertheless, we could have sat in the lounge had we wished, instead we chose to watch one of the many DVDs in the comfort of our cosy room. The breakfast selection was excellent and we both chose vegetarian because it looked and tasted so good. Neither of us are vegetarians. It was not far from Bath with a good bus service, much easier than taking my car. Very enjoyable stay.

“Break away”

A fantastic place to stay. Couldn’t find fault from start to finish. Very warm welcome at reception a tour of the facilities as well as some helpful advice on how to get around in Bath. Breakfast was fantastic as was the service. Room very clean with all the extras that make it a home from home. Will definitely be back. Would highly recommend.

Ample parking available in the grounds & the city of Bath is great we wandered all day, don’t miss the Roman Baths well worth a visit. All staff were friendly & helpful , would stay here again

“September break in Bath”

Just left Bailbrook lodge in Bath and grabbing a coffee in bath Costa as I write this. My fiancee insisted this is the nicest hotel we have stayed in. A Georgian House full of character and quirkiness. On arrival we were greeted in a friendly manner offered a tour of the house and then taken to our room. I had booked a 4 poster bed room. When the door opened we were both surprised at the size of the room. Others have commented about size of bathroom but I found it fully functional and of adequate size. (not planning on sleeping in the bathroom). The room had bathrobes and slippers which was a nice touch and all mod cons. The hotel is situated 15minute drive from bath train station, city centre. There are several buses that pass the entrance to the hotel. If not a cab is only about £7.00. Was really looking forward to the breakfast and was not disappointed with selection of fruits, cereal, yogurts, Actimel, and then a choice of hot breakfast which included eggs Benedict, cooked breakfast, kippers. The food was delicious. The staff were polite and courteous at all times and helped make our stay special and memorable. Would definitely stay here again. Also met one if the owners who enquired as to our stay who was wearing wellies and looked like he had a busy day ahead of him. Hope this helps.

“Mini break”

What a lovely place to stay, it’s just outside Bath you can catch a bus at the end of the drive Food excellent nothing to much trouble and the staff are knowledgeable of the area there’s a fridge with fresh milk and a safe definitely would go back and try another hotel in the group.

“Beautiful property and friendly welcoming staff”

Stayed here in August with my family, it is a gorgeous country house. The garden suite was amazing with lots of amenities. The staff are very friendly and hospitable and make you feel like very comfortable. The breakfast and the in room treats are all very lavish. If you are after a country break and want a piece of quaint English charm, book this place!

“Excellent Service”

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights over the bank holiday weekend. The building itself is beautiful and the staff were absolutely amazing, so friendly and welcoming. They were also really helpful with places to visit in the local area. The breakfast was beautiful and so much choice! We would 100% stay here again.

“Satisfaction”

My wife and l have had 2 occasions to stay at this hotel and have enjoyed both times. The staff are so friendly and very helpful. What we like about the hotel is we can park the car and catch a bus into Bath. It only takes 10 minutes and no parking problems. Bath is just Fab. All in all it makes a stay at the Hotel very enjoyable. Maureen and Barry

“Excellent B&B”

Really impressed with this ‘find’. Ideal if you want accommodation with free parking and access to bus service into Bath. Only 10-15 mins on bus which runs every 10-12 mins up to 10pm then every 30 mins until midnight. Superb breakfast service – best experienced in many years. Wide range, quality produce and breakfast cooked to order. Highly recommend, good value and comfortable accommodation. Garden area too if weather good which it was on our visit.

“Unique place”

We stayed for 2 nights, myself, my husband and 2 daughters and stayed in the garden suite. We parked easily and were greeted with a warm welcome and tour of the lodge. Our room had a 4 poster bed and a separate twin bedroom for the kids (within the suite, perfectly safe for small children) which we haven’t always got with all suites. The decor is in keeping with the lodge, the bedding etc all great quality. The complimentary products and were nice and they’re generous with them. In the room there’s a kettle, tea, fresh coffee with a cafetière, hot chocolate, Horlicks and biscuits. They offer room service in an evening, the menu is fairly limited with afternoon tea and sandwiches but was better than I expected considering this isn’t a large hotel with a restaurant. In the lounge is a tiny bar with everything you could want, we had a lovely evening with some drinks, chatting with others guests. Breakfast is fantastic with a continental breakfast to begin followed by a wonderfully cooked hot breakfast and they had vegetarian sausages!!! My favourite part of breakfast was the complimentary Champagne, this gives you an idea of the little extra touches you get here. The staff are all great, particularly the guy who was around in the mornings, extremely professional and friendly. Bailbrook Lodge is around a 20 minute walk to the centre of Bath or 10 minutes on a bus which stops 1 minute up the road.I’d recommend staying here if you want a peaceful break in a high quality guest house with a touch of luxury, where they really do go the extra mile to look after you.

“Lovely”

On arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome. Lovely little show around downstairs and to our room, which was beautiful. I’d recommend a four poster room. Large and spacious, lovely view out onto the garden. Breakfast was yummy! Catering to our requests perfectly with a good selection on the buffet table. We had a lovely stay and would come again. Thank you

“Beautiful, elegant and comfortable”

I recently stayed at Bailbrook Lodge, and can’t wait to return! The grounds, the rooms and the entire place has the elegance of a time gone by; everyone on staff is just lovely, and the breakfast is wonderful, and is served in a charming room. One feels as if one is staying at an elegant private home. The location is close to Bath’s town centre, yet one feels as if one is truly away from it all, and on vacation. A lush green lawn is well-manicured, and there are terrific views. Bath reminds one of a perfect blend of England and Italy. The town and this lodge are a treat for the soul and the senses. Like stepping into another century, but in a thoroughly comfortable and soothing way!

TripAdvisor – August 2016

“Helpful and friendly staff”

I recently enjoyed a three-night stay in Bailbrook Lodge and I’m now writing my first Tripadvisor review because I want to share the joy with other people. It’s a stunning house in beautiful grounds (which I enjoyed sitting out in with my book during the evening). My room was wonderful, with a four-poster bed that’s definitely worth the extra price (the smaller double I saw was nice, but there’s no comparison when you get a grand, comfy bed). Staff were friendly and helpful. This was particularly good because I arrived in Bath with only a few things on my itinerary, they chatted to me about what I might like, helped with suggestions (some of them very much off the tourist trail but exactly what I was looking for) and generally made me feel I was among friends even though I was travelling alone.Yes, the hotel is a walk from town, but I enjoyed this opportunity to do a bit of gentle exercise and take the time to prepare for my day/think about the fun I’d encountered. Also, champagne for breakfast. I don’t need to say any more.

“Girls night away”

Great hotel, staff were friendly, & helpful, rooms were very cute. Great character within hotel. Breakfast was just enough to get you started in the morning, lovely hot water, chocolates on your pillow enough parking outside, Bath city centre not far to drive. Warm feeling to hotel. Would go back again. Thank you for looking after us so well

“Sara”

A lovely stay was sorry it was just for one night. Excellent service, I was greeted by the manager on arrival who was very helpful. I had a lovely standard double room. Very comfy, excellent tea making facilities. Lovely breakfast with lots of choice. Would stay again if I am in Bath.

“Very nice”

This hotel/lodge/b&b is very clean and tidy. This was a very late booking and when we arrived at around 9.15pm on a Friday evening we were greeted by someone who immediately introduced himself and knew who we were. We were then shown around the hotel downstairs, explained about the dining facilities along with the bar and shown to own room and again shown around our room. This is a very refreshing and pleasant, well kept hotel with friendly staff and very informative with the local knowledge.

“Truly wonderful Hotel”

We stayed here 2 years ago and had such a wonderful stay we promised ourselves we would return again. This we duly have done and again we were not disappointed. On arrival we were met by Nic on reception. Whom gave us the tour of hotel and guide to room. The Lincoln suite over looking Bath valley. Clean and a huge 4 poster bed. 1st class breakfast great staff. Nothing to much trouble. Bus stop just outside .Buses every 10mins to Bath. Safe Car parking. Sure is sure we will return again to this lovely hotel and the great city of Bath

“Anniversary Stay”

In 2006 we stayed in Bailbrook Lodge after getting married nearby. In 2016 we returned, with kids this time, to celebrate 10 years. The hotel was as warm and welcoming as I remembered it, and they’d also made the effort to mark the occasion with a bottle of fizz. And those little touches continued which sets this place apart. A warm welcome and personal escort to the room; free soft drinks for the kids as we arrived, and a very personal, professional and amiable service throughout. The breakfast room was delightful as was the choice and quality of the food. The room (the family room on the lower floor) was perfect. A real treat for the family and well worth the money — more great memories made in a charming hotel.

“50th Birthday celebrations”

Have just returned from a wonderful 2 day stay at Bailbrook Lodge celebrating birthday with family and a friend. We booked the family suite which had a beautiful four poster bed with adjoining room with two single beds which was ideal. Beautiful views from window overlooking the gardens.
Breakfast menu was excellent and food ordered was freshly cooked, service was prompt and always very friendly. We booked the 2 day spa break so enjoyed a 3 hour session at the Thermae Spa which was great. The 3 course menu at The Brunel Brasserie we all enjoyed and service was great. Thank you for a lovely stay.

TripAdvisor – June 2016

“Birthday celebration”

We chose Bailbrook Lodge to celebrate my brother-in-laws birthday and could not fault any aspect of it. From check in to departure they couldn’t do enough for you. The service was excellent as was the accommodation and the breakfast. Only a short drive to the centre of Bath and they are happy to arrange taxis should you need one. It was hot and sunny when we were there and the grounds are lovely to sit out in with a drink. The rooms are lovely managing to retain the original character of the building whilst offering the facilities expected by the modern day traveller. Would not hesitate to recommend and will return should we revisit Bath.

“Professional helpful staff”

We had booked into a B&B in Trowbridge to visit Bath but it was so Terrible we were desperate to move to a better place and happened on Bailbrook by chance and they managed to fit us in. Nic was an excellent staff member who made us very welcome and Jacqui gave us tips and vouchers to use in Bath. We had a lovely clean and well decorated room and loved the quirky features of this house. Bus stop to Bath was very near and the champagne breakfast was excellent and served perfectly by Nic. Great place to stay. Thank you staff

“Beautiful”

This was our first visit, and our expectations were exceeded. Our room was beautiful (Jane Austin suite), that over looked the well maintained mature garden. Whilst the rooms aren’t modern, they are fully modernised and are decorated sympathetically in keeping with the age of the property, which for us was an added bonus; and made it different and memorable. The room was beautifully clean, and it was a nice change have a huge and well stocked variety of drink options, fresh coffee was a definite hit. Considering how closely situated to the road it is surprisingly quiet, we had the window open all night and only heard the birds. All the team that we met where really friendly and helpful. We were in Bath for a wedding, and had looked at various accommodation options, and this was by far the best value that we found, with breakfast and WiFi being included.

TripAdvisor – June 2016

“Fantastic experience”

Just stayed at this beautiful Georgian property and couldn’t fault it. The bedroom was very comfortable with everything needed for a good night’s sleep. Peaceful surroundings and very comfortable beds. The breakfast was one of the best for quality I’ve had and the service from everyone was exemplary. We enjoyed our lunch at the sister hotel and the champagne on arrival was a lovely touch. Hard to believe the previous review was entirely truthful! Would certainly stay again. Thank you.

“2 nights were just not enough”

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights last week on a special deal which included a fabulous lunch at the Royal Hotel in the centre of Bath on the first day and a very nice Afternoon Tea at the Bailbrook Lodge on the second day. The room was on the small side but had absolutely everything you wanted for a very comfortable stay, especially the free champagne! The Lodge is situated just outside the centre of Bath and was very quiet and peaceful. The staff were very kind and thoughtful and very polite. The breakfast was superb and we even had champagne as a start to each day! We will definitely like to return for another visit in the future and enjoy the Lodge’s comforts. Well done everyone.

“Amazing Stay”

The Lodge is 2 miles out of Bath, we arrived at the Lodge at 11.30am checking in time was 2.30pm so we left the car there and caught a bus into Bath, the bus stop was opposite the hotel and runs every 20 mins in the week and 30 mins on a Sunday. Included in the price was a 3 course meal at the Royal Hotel in Bath, the choice was quite extensive and the meal was very good indeed. We returned back at the Lodge late afternoon, our room was small but adequate with tea, coffee, biscuits and a bottle of champagne! Lots of toiletries in the bathroom including stain removal sachets which I have never seen in a hotel before. The rooms were clean and the bedroom had a view over the garden. It was a lovely evening so we decided to have our champagne in the garden, the gentleman in reception swapped our warm champagne for a chilled one. Breakfast was also very good, lots of choice including cereal, fresh fruit salad, full English breakfast etc, this also included a glass of champagne. The staff were very friendly and attentive and I will recommend this Lodge to my friends and family. We will definitely return. Thank you to all at Bailbrook Lodge.

“Perfect retreat”

The perfect place to relax whilst still being close to the stunning city of bath, beautiful clean and well presented hotel with lots of original features, the staff were helpful and very attentive especially the general manager Jacqui who is a fountain of knowledge if you are looking for a good restaurant, breakfast is also a must with well cooked food and ample portions , will definitely be returning and totally recommend this hotel.

“Wonderful stay at Bailbrook Lodge”

I’ve just returned from a two night stay at the Bailbrook Lodge to celebrate my Brother’s 50th birthday.. We had one four poster, which was huge and a standard room which was small but very comfortable and suited us well. The deal included lunch at the Brasserie Brunel, Bailbrook’s sister hotel in Bath itself, afternoon tea and of course B&B. What a delightful place. All the staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. There were so many extra touches one just doesn’t expect, especially on a ‘deal’. Champagne, and a very good one too, in each room. Chocolates on the pillow…..on both nights! And so many toiletries, and tea, coffee, hot chocolate etc, renewed daily. I honestly don’t know how this place makes any money as they’re so generous with everything. The breakfast was outstanding. Such a huge choice, quality ingredients and cooked to perfection. We hopped onto the bus into town which was very easy, although on driving found no parking problems in Bath. Lunch at the Brasserie Brunel far exceeded expectations. Again, very pleasant staff plenty of choice beautifully presented and cooked. I would not hesitate to recommend Bailbrook Lodge and am looking forward to staying there again very soon. They made the birthday celebration very special. Thank you to everyone at Bailbrook Lodge.

“Excellent stay with superb service”

We stayed at the hotel for two nights on a special offer that included afternoon tea, lunch in the city, breakfast and a bottle of champagne in our room – fantastic value. The hotel is in traditional style, in it’s own grounds, with great character, clean and comfortable throughout. The standard rooms are just a little small, but have everything that is needed – and the most fully equipped tea tray ever! (The hotel boasts a number of four-poster bedrooms, but we chose not to upgrade to one of these). Our view was on the first floor overlooking the lovely garden. We were served afternoon tea in the lounge on our arrival, and then took the bus from outside the hotel into Bath – a frequent service taking about 10 minutes to the city centre. As we were at the hotel meeting up with friends it was lovely to have a comfortable residents lounge with a small bar, to meet and chat. Breakfast was amazing, with a huge choice of both hot and cold items – and a glass of champagne too. Our special deal included a three course lunch the following day at the sister hotel in the city centre, which was excellent. We returned to the hotel after a full day sight-seeing, and were able to order sandwiches and snacks in the lounge on the second evening. All the staff were polite, friendly and helpful, and we had a delightful stay. We would recommend the hotel to everyone, and we hope to go back again soon.

“Excellent mini break”

Just returned from a 2 night package deal at the Bailbrook Lodge which was arranged by friends of ours who we met up with at the hotel. Starting from check-in the staff were superb with the general manager making us very welcome and giving us a guided tour of the hotel explaining all it had to offer. Every other member of staff were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Our room (32) was not over big but big enough and contained everything top hotels provide. The breakfast choice (including champagne) and quality was probably as good as I have ever had and was served in a very pleasant atmosphere. The hotel also has a free ca rpark. Our package also included lunch in their sister hotel, the Royal in Bath centre and that was also superb and of high quality. Bailbrook is located just outside the city centre but there is a regular bus service 2 minutes walk from the hotel so no worries about parking in Bath. Close to the hotel are other attractions. The canal is a short drive away in Bathampton which is a very nice village with a lovely pub, the Bathampton Mill. In summary, Bailbrook Lodge is worthy of a visit for anyone wanting to visit Bath. I would have no hesitation in choosing it again. Thanks to all the staff for a very pleasant stay.

“Excellent value for money”

We booked the Travelzoo deal which included afternoon tea, a bottle of champagne, champagne breakfast and lunch at the Brunel Brasserie. From the moment we arrived, the staff could not be more helpful. The roads into Bath were closed for the half marathon so we asked if we could park at the hotel (even though we were too early for check in). The guy on Reception was extremely helpful, telling us which bus to get, where from etc. The bus stop was very close to the hotel and buses ran every 15 minutes right into the centre, and every 30 minutes back (Sunday service). We booked the afternoon tea for our first evening and after a day cycling the Two Tunnels Greenway (which was excellent) we were looking forward to it. On arriving back at the hotel we checked in. Again we were greeted warmly, shown to our room, told a little bit of the history of the place and informed where everything was. The afternoon tea was delicious – even the coffee and tea were superb and it was very filling. The scones were amazing! Vases of beautiful fresh flowers complimented the period feel of the dining room. The bottle of champagne was delicious and we had a lovely relaxing night in the room. The room was well-appointed, clearly old but well looked after. Bed was comfortable, and we had all the amenities you would want, including bottled water and an excellent selection of hot drinks (even horlicks). The only small let down was that the shower didn’t drain well and the hot water seemed to run out in the morning but this did not spoil our stay (and I’m sure the staff will work to rectify this). Breakfast was superb again, we enjoyed another glass of champagne with our smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. The fresh fruit salad was delicious and very fresh. Lunch at the Brunel Brasserie was also very enjoyable, and filling. You need to do plenty of walking if you’re booking this break to counteract all the food! All in all the break was excellent value for money and we would definitely like to come back!

“Excellent stay”

Booked via Travelzoo and it proved excellent value with a la carte lunch at Brunel Brasserie in Bath centre, afternoon tea, bottle of champers and breakfast. But it was the wonderful service that made our stay. Right from the check in we were made to feel welcome with a guided tour of lodge. A bit outside the centre there is a bus stop outside with frequent service late into evening. Rooms very nice, comfy beds, slippers provided was a nice touch and a great selection of teas coffees and biscuits in room, even ground coffee and cafetiere. A little gem and enjoyed 1st visit to Bath.

“Wonderful trip to Bath”

We also were on a Travelzoo ‘deal’ visit, and had a wonderful time. We enjoyed our lunch in Bath and afternoon tea at the Bailbrook Lodge. We found our room very comfortable, and thought the breakfast the next morning, cooked to order, was fabulous! They were most accommodating of my husband’s gluten free diet, and we would definitely stay here again.

“Perfect getaway”

We had a lovely stay. Reception staff was smiley and welcoming. He took the time to show us around. Asked when we would like our complimentary champagne (yes really!) . The room was cute and the bed very comfortable. We parked for free and jumped on the no.13 bus into Bath city. On our return the afternoon tea was a lovely treat. The breakfast was freshly cooked and good quality bacon and sausages were used. the morning waiting staff just as cheerful as the reception man. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

“Georgian Treasure”

Just come back from a weekend trip to Bath dropping son back to Bath Spa and found this delightful place. When we arrived we were told we were upgraded to a gorgeous room with a four poster bed. It is spotlessly clean, furnished in keeping with the style of the house, yet all the modern comforts you could wish for, including the best WiFi I have experienced in a hotel in recent times. The complimentary tea and coffee even has Horlicks! Breakfast is served in a beautiful drawing room with a great buffet and plenty of hot food to choose from on the menu, and assisted by really friendly staff. I can find nothing negative to say about this place….apart from the fact that I had to leave it! I would definitely return.

“An excellent package provided via Travelzoo. Beyond expectations”

Ideal location for visiting Bath. Ten minutes to City Centre and ideal for great local walks. The package of afternoon tea, bottle of champagne, hearty breakfast with fizz and three course lunch with wine at their sister hotel the following lunchtime was incredible value thanks to the package they had arranged with Travelzoo. We will be back. Made very welcome as soon as the door was opened.

“Lovely Hotel”

I spent a lovely weekend here recently. This comfortable hotel was previously a beautiful Georgian house which has been very sympathetically renovated. The staff were really welcoming from the outset, and very informative about Bath in general. I was made to feel very much at home. The four poster bed in the ‘red’ room was fabulous. Breakfast was great, with a good selection of cold and hot food. I was very well looked after and I’d definitely go back. If you’re a tourist as I was, you can jump on a number 13 bus from right outside the hotel , straight into town, so you don’t have to worry about parking in the city centre. Perfect. I can highly recommend it.

Stayed for my birthday as a treat from my fiancé. Huge gorgeous rooms, book a 4 poster as they are just Wow!!.Very clean and tidy. Ultra romantic too. Polite and welcoming staff. “Outstanding B & B”

5 starsTravelzoo overnight deal with champagne in room, 3 course lunch in town and glass of wine. Also included – afternoon tea at Bailbrook Lodge plus lovely breakfast cost us £99 for 2. Very good quality and value for money in our opinion. We had a standard twin room on this occasion (perfectly ok) but would upgrade to a more spacious feature room on future visits. Afternoon tea was served until 6pm. We didn’t use the car preferring to use the very convenient/frequent No 13 bus from outside. If you want a short stroll, walk up drive of Bailbrook Hotel, through small housing development on to the lane at the top for stunning views. From our arrival to checking out it was obvious that the staff cared and we found the standard excellent. A well run establishment.

“Two night stay.”

My wife and I, her sister and partner were attending their brother in law’s funeral. So what could have been a miserable couple of days were passed very comfortably in what we all thought was a lovely hotel. The rooms were good, the food was good (didn’t have the champagne for breakfast – but will next time!), the staff and service absolutely excellent. Bath is an expensive place but this was very good value for money. Lovely surroundings and ample parking.

“First class service even on a bargain break”

From the first telephone call to book after seeing a spa break offer on visit bath website, I had rung up because couldn’t believe how good a deal it was, until our final checkout we had fantastic service. A couple of email queries were answered promptly and from the minute my friend and I arrived Jacqui was really friendly and helpful. We had a delightful room with bath and shower and ground coffee plus tea hot chocolate etc. The room was spotless and very comfortable. The champagne breakfast were amazing everything you could want and more. With the other benefits of the spa tickets and three course meal at Brasserie Brunel this really was an excellent offer. I can honestly say we could not have had better service if we had been top price paying guests and we will both definitely be back. Thank you to Jacqui and the team for a wonderful break.

“A one night stay at Bailbrook Lodge.”

My husband and I had a very pleasant and comfortable stay at this lovely hotel. It was very peaceful and we were made to feel very welcome. The WiFi was excellent and the fastest we’ve ever found in any hotel that we’ve stayed in. Our bed was extremely comfortable and our room was spotlessly clean. The staff were friendly and attentive and our breakfast was first class. We highly recommend The Bailbrook Lodge hotel and we’d certainly visit there again whenever we’re in that area.

“Perfect gem, ideally placed for Bath city centre”

Stayed here for 2 nights as a ruby wedding gift from the family. What a fabulous place. The lodge is full of character. We stayed in the garden suite which was downstairs, the double room had everything you would need. The bed was extremely comfortable, there were the usual tea/ coffee making facilities and more. We had a slight problem with the TV and when we told Jackie the manager, the next morning the TV had been replaced. The staff were great, very obliging, always smiling, they couldn’t do enough for us. The breakfast menu was extensive, I defy anyone to come up with a better one. They advised that it would be better to get the bus into Bath as parking was a nightmare, which we did. The bus stop is less than 5 minutes walk from the lodge and came every 15 minutes, perfect. The whole experience was delightful. When hearing of our anniversary, Jackie left a bottle of champagne for us to celebrate, a personal touch sadly lacking in most places. Some of the rooms had four poster beds and everything appeared to be spotless. I have already recommended this hotel to friends and family and would definitely stay here again if in the area.

“Relaxing Stay…..”

I booked a 2 night Spa break for my partner and myself. Terance was on duty that afternoon and he showed us around the place and took us to our room. It was a small double room with a big bathroom. I didn’t mind that the room was small although the slipper bath was not very good for my partner. I think the bath is ok for small people so I was fine with it! Tea/coffee making facilities were good – there was plenty of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits etc. Bed was very comfortable and we slept well for the 2 nights. Breakfast was lovely – plenty of continental choice as well as a cooked breakfast. Location was very good as we left the car at the hotel and took the bus into Bath – bus stop is only a short walk away. The break also included an excellent 3 course meal which was served by their sister hotel. We also had access to the Thermae Spa Bath which we both thoroughly enjoyed. To sum up – we had a lovely time here – Terance was friendly, polite and very helpful. All other staff that we encountered were very pleasant. The room was lovely, breakfast was good – I would definitely come back again and will book a four poster next time!

“Bath Long Weekend Away”

An absolutely stunning building and surrounds with well decorated and comfortable rooms – I stayed in one of the beautiful 4-poster rooms for 3 nights. The staff are warm, friendly and very welcoming, couldn’t do enough. I will definitely be coming back again.

“Mr & Mrs Hillary”

Spent a night here for our mini honeymoon, we were married in The Barn in Tunbridge Wells and this was part of the package. It was everything we had hoped, beautiful gardens and views, romantic room with an uber cosy four poster bed, great tea and coffee facilities and a delicious breakfast spread. Our deputy manager on shift of which we cannot remember his name but he was South African, was exactly who you would like to be greeted with, friendly, charming, helpful and fun. We definitely want to come back here for our first anniversary. Much love and thank you to our mystery deputy manager Mr &Mrs Hillary xx

“A warm welcome and lovely room”

The hotel room was beautiful with lots of original character and charm. This is an ideal hotel to stay in as it has excellent public transport to Bath. Leaving the car at the hotel and enjoying some good food in Bath. The breakfast is excellent and consists of local produce. A complimentary glass of champagne is available to start the day. Overall an excellent place to enjoy 1 or 2 nights away.

“Very impressed would go back”

Room was lovely very clean you had everything you wanted the and manager Jacqui and staff are very helpfully. We stayed for our 50th Wedding Anniversary and they made it very special for us with a bottle of Champagne in our room. The breakfast was lovely so much to choose from. We are going back next year for our 51 year.

“Always an absolute gem!!!”

We have just returned from our fourth visit to Bailbrook Lodge which has been spread out over a couple of years. We stayed in a lovely Double room which suited our needs down to the ground. The shower which we prefer to a bath was spotlessly clean, there was fresh coffee in the bedroom(always a plus!) and the staff are very obliging and polite as always. We have never had cause to complain about Bailbrook – it is a B and B with loads of charm. The rooms are not vast – it’s an old building, but hey if you want larger soulless rooms then I’m sure the larger chains will oblige! Our next visit will be in a few months and maybe we will try a four poster-after all we were pleased with a Double so a four poster will be fantastic. Special thanks must go to Manager Jacqui who really made our weekend-such a charming and helpful Lady – nothing was too much trouble which really makes a difference.

“Very impressed ”

We stayed at Bailbrook Lodge for a a night earlier this month. We were very pleased with our room and especially the view onto the beautiful garden outside. It was great to find both bath and shower in our en suite too. We had tea and coffee making facilities in our room and the complimentary slippers were a lovely touch. The beds were extremely comfortable and we enjoyed a peaceful night’s sleep.
We were impressed with the breakfast options; my friend enjoyed the ‘full English’ while I had scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. The dining area looks great and the service was very friendly. Again we were able to enjoy the lovely view into the garden. The location of the lodge is great as we wanted to be close to the centre. Overall a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Will definitely revisit in future.

“Best place if you need some rest”

We went there with my husband. The hotel is a few minutes from Bath centre and it’s a perfect place if you need to escape from daily crowd. Breakfast is really nice , hotel staff is nice and polite. Best beds I slept on! Definitely will be back in autumn.

“Second visit ,just as good.”

Last stayed about seven years ago. Loved it then loved it now. The only thing that had changed was the bed was more comfortable. We have only stayed in four poster rooms and can’t fault the rooms . The rooms are huge and exactly how you would expect a four poster room to look. One night we wanted to stay in an appreciate the room. We ordered champagne very reasonably priced and delicious. The hotel only does light snacks but we were told absolutely fine to have a takeaway delivered. The breakfast is wonderful all freshly cooked and piping hot. The hotel has parking and for the location and decor very reasonably priced.

“Bath College Reunion”

This was a perfect location for a reunion with friends to celebrate 40 years. We loved the character of this beautiful listed building. We received a really warm welcome on arrival and were given an informative tour. All the staff we met were sooo friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We enjoyed relaxing with our friends in the comfortable guest rooms. We stayed in room 22 which was small but superbly furnished, beautifully clean with super comfy beds. A good selection of hot beverages were available in the room but coffee and tea could also be ordered in the guest dining room. However, the best part of the stay was the delicious breakfast. Croissants, pain chocolat, cereals, fresh fruit salad, yogurt, a wide range of superbly cooked hot dishes all served with Champagne. True Decadence. I tried most of the cooked dishes on the menu and the Eggs Benedict was to die for. We will definitely stay with you again. It’s location outside Bath with Parking made it ideal as it was just a short stroll from the number 13 bus stop which takes you straight into the centre of Bath. Thank you for making our stay so special.

“Great place to stay to explore Bath”

We had a great 2 night stay in a lovely 4 poster room over looking the garden. The room was large and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast each morning was freshly served, very tasty and provided everything you would want. John on the front desk looked after us very well and gave us excellent tips about where to go. This place only serves breakfast but we were pointed to a super place called the Bathampton Mill for an evening meal a short walk away. The Bailbrook Lodge is just outside Bath. Taking a car into Bath can be problematic but we used the very regular bus service from the stop just outside the Lodge which made getting in and out of Bath a doodle. Would definitely stay again.

“Great midweek stay”

We booked two nights at the Bailbrook , it’s a lovely old building. Terence showed us round the Bailbrook and gave us a guided tour, he was very knowledgeable of the Bailbrook history . Our room was overlooking the garden with a nice curved window with great view . The room was large with four poster bed nice chairs by window , sink in room with separate bathroom with rain shower , with quality toiletries stocked daily . There was tea and coffee making in the room with a good selection biscuits . Breakfast was excellent and had a very good selection including champagne . All the staff was friendly and very attentive . You can walk into Bath within 30 mins or take the number 13 bus just outside . Would recommend the Bailbrook

“Bath College Reunion”

A wonderful weekend meeting up with College friends and husbands to celebrate 40 year reunion. The hotel was perfect. Beautiful, spacious, friendly and helpful staff. Had tea in the lounge and in the garden which was very relaxing. Rooms and beds very comfortable. We had a four poster bed and it was a real treat. Breakfast was excellent and a lovely touch of decadence with champagne rounded off a special and wonderful trip.

“Lovely city break.”

Pleasant stay for 3 nights last week. Welcoming staff, clean rooms and lovely gardens. Champagne even on offer at breakfast. A short walk down the lane for a regular bus service to Bath. Key fob to room also had discount card for places in Bath. Pat even gave me details of his dentist (Mr Rosser) at Green Park dental surgery as I was suffering with an abscess, thank you Pat. Coffee and tea supplies were plentiful in the room, inc Horlicks and hot chocolate. You even get a chocolate on your pillow.

“Special Occasion”

Beautiful Georgian country house just outside Bath City Centre. Warm welcome from Terrence, really friendly, helpful and informative. We were allowed to leave our luggage early at the hotel as we had arrived from London for our daughter’s graduation ceremony that afternoon and booked in later that evening. The room although small was nice with a comfortable double bed complete with chocolates left on the pillows. The room was spotlessly clean . So was the shower with lovely large bath towels. At breakfast we were served by Carol who was cheerful and attentive to our needs on both mornings that we were there – we even had Champagne with our full English breakfast. Sat in the lovely garden after breakfast it was lovely and peaceful. Within easy reach of the city centre by bus or reasonably priced taxi. I will definitely book this hotel when I return to Bath.

TripAdvisor – July 2015

“Old elegance”

We three arrived here after a booking elsewhere was messed up and were delighted with the outcome, which caters for those wanting chintzy comfort and service rather than 21st century technology. We had the downstairs garden suite which consists of 2 very large rooms, one with twin beds, the main with a 4 poster, both with ample space and homely touches. The staff were delightfully helpful and we felt as if we were staying in someone’s home. Away from the centre of town, which is 35-40 minutes walk or a 7 pound taxi ride. Thoroughly recommended.

“Relaxing City break”

What a lovely place….from the moment we arrived, we were given a warm welcome from Terrance who showed us round the hotel. We had a twin room on the ground floor, it had everything that you would need, fresh towels daily. The breakfast was lovely, you could choose anything from the buffet, plus there were plenty of cooked choices too. Although the hotel is near the main road, it was very peaceful and quiet. It is right on the number 13 bus route which takes you into Bath. We booked the Thermae Spa though the hotel, which I can thoroughly recommend. Truly relaxing morning. I would also recommend the city bus tour, which takes you around Bath and provides you with a lot of history of the city. Would definitely return to this hotel.

“Comfortable Elegence”

We stayed two nights at Bailbrook Lodge while visiting our daughter and son-in-law. We were pleasantly surprised at the convenient location and comfort. We had a beautiful view and lovely furnishings. The breakfast was wonderful and we had our choice of multiple items along with the fruit, cereal, yogurt and juices. Wifi and parking were available.

TripAdvisor – July 2015

“Wonderful Stay”

Stayed for one night and cannot wait to return. We were greeted warmly by Terence who showed us to our room (equipped with iPod dock and champagne), all the while explaining the history of the house and the mechanics of breakfast. Room was lovely, with a large 4 poster bed and a nice, modern, clean walk in shower room, with a vanity unit actually in the room, which was a nice touch. Slept like royalty and awoke to a fantastic breakfast – lovely fresh pastries as standard and a fine array of cooked to order items from the menu – all produce is locally sourced and really tasty. Location is great – a couple of miles out of Bath but a good walk will get you to where you need to be in no time. Cannot wait to return for longer.

“Peaceful holiday in Bath”

Great B&B. Hostess friendly and very helpful. Breakfast is superb. First day had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, second day poached eggs and bacon. All done to perfection. Garden and lounge area delightful to sit in. Room was very clean and comfortable. Nice touches to the room. Would definitely stay here again.

“Relaxing break in charming property”

Stayed in the Jane Austen suite which had a comfortable 4 poster bed and a lovely view of the garden and beyond which could be enjoyed from a pair of armchairs in the window area. No bath but a good shower with a range of complementary toiletries. This is not a modern type of hotel but had a great deal of charm and an excellent breakfast with a full range of cereals etc served buffet style, including fresh fruit salad, quality orange juice, yoghourt, croissants etc. The full English cooked breakfast was superb and it felt very decadent to also have a flute of champagne. Robes and slippers were provided & free WiFi which worked fine. I would definitely recommend this establishment for a relaxing place to stay whilst visiting Bath.

“Great stay”

A relaxing 2 night spa break at the Bailbrook Lodge. We booked direct with the hotel and were allocated the ‘Lincoln Suite’ which was excellent. A quirky washbasin in a cupboard, a great shower room and large comfy four poster bed! So comfortable we nearly over slept on the second day and missed breakfast! The room was on the top floor and over looked the garden and had far reaching views. The breakfast menu was extensive and very well cooked. All staff we encountered were attentive and very friendly. All in all a great stay to be recommended. Julie and Robert

“Girlie spa few days”

What a find!!! Gorgeous Georgian house in a beautiful setting. It’s on a major bus route from Bath (number 13) every 20 mins so easy to get into the city but you feel away from it all whilst you’re there. The staff are superb, helpful without being intrusive. It’s clean, comfortable and historically beautiful. Breakfast is amazing, fresh and generous portions, with the added bonus of Champagne!! Will definitely be staying again!!!

“What an absolutely fantastic place to stay!”

We booked this accommodation over the internet with no real idea of what it was like and we were pleasantly surprised. Yes, the lodge may not be 5 star, Yes some may even say it is a little tired, but what they may not mention is the ambiance, the location and more importantly the fantastic staff. Terance (we remembered the spelling), one of the assistant managers made our stay so much more enjoyable with his sense of humour and lovely welcoming manner. He made us feel at home from the minute we walked in the door. There was no request that we could have possibly made that he would not have fulfilled. There was also a lovely lady in the dining room in the mornings who saw to it that we had everything we needed for our breakfast. And what a breakfast that is! Everything that you could want from cereal, toast to hot food. Too much to choose from. The location is ideal, being located near the main motorway and only a short drive into the city of Bath. The rooms are quiet with no traffic noise.I would not hesitate to recommend this lodge to anyone coming to stay in Bath, and if anyone of our friends from Australia want to come to Bath we will be telling them to stay there.

“Great place to stay”,/span>

The staff here are excellent. We took their weekend special and got a great welcome about the hotel and the area from Philip the manager on duty. The room was great. The hotel is quiet. We got a free bottle of Champagne. The room had coffee and tea etc. We went into Bath for the offer of ‘main course free’ with the meal. The restaurant on offer was opposite Bath station and very easy to get to. We had a good meal their and the pricing is fair as well. The hotel breakfast was good. Lots to choose from. Very English, quiet and a good outlook.I would NOT recommend this hotel if you want lots of modern facilities – but would highly recommend the hotel if you want quiet, peaceful, old-style hotelling.I loved it. This is exactly what we wanted – now to find more like this. Well done.

“Great place, lovely people”

Spent one night here and had a wonderful time from the minute we walked through the door to a warm welcome. Champagne on arrival and chocolates on the pillows. We had a smallish double room which was big enough and we had a great slipper bath. All the staff were helpful and friendly and the garden was a lovely haven. Will stay here again!

“Amazing”

Booked this for my friends 30th Birthday. Was on a Wowcher so didn’t expect much for the price we paid. As they only had superior rooms left I choose 2 of these as it was a special birthday. Rooms are beautiful Four poster bed lovely views lots of room. Champagne was lovely owners and staff were very friendly As part of our deal we had a meal in their sister hotel. The food was amazing. So pleased that I am booking again soon for my Mums Birthday.

“Beautiful”

We visited using a great value deal from Wowcher. From my first contact with the hotel to try and book in the staff were friendly, helpful and very accommodating in trying to find me a date; they had obviously been inundated with bookings, which isn’t surprising! We arrived to be greeted with a warm welcome, shown around the hotel and then up to our room. We had paid to upgrade to a four poster which was well worth the money, the room was big, beautifully furnished with huge windows overlooking the pretty garden. Fairly small but perfectly adequate wet room with shower and toilet, and everywhere was spotlessly clean. The bed was so comfy, like a big fluffy cloud! We took cab into Bath, which was a short drive (about £7.50 in a cab) and there is also a regular bus service. We had dinner included in our deal at the Royal Hotel, again the staff were very friendly, the restaurant was quite busy but service was very good. We both had 3 courses which were all delicious and great value for money. Breakfast on Sunday morning was excellent. Selection of juices, cereal, fresh fruit etc, then choice of cooked breakfasts, all was hot, freshly cooked and delicious and again served by lovely friendly staff. There was even a bottle of champagne to help yourself so I had a lovely Bucks Fizz! We would definitely return, a real gem of a place.

“Bath Break”

A nice boutique Hotel just off a main road, ideally close to Bath city. Totally spoiled by polite attentive hotel staff. Hotel does a really nice breakfast (champagne at breakfast on our Wowcher offer and a bottle on arrival). No evening dinner option but sister Hotel The Royal, right by the railway station really nice part of our Wowcher deal, number 13 bus right outside the Bailbrook £4 return.

“Family visit”

We stayed in this charming guesthouse for three nights as our daughter and son in law had just celebrated the birth of their first son. It was convenient for driving to the hospital and very close to their home. Would not hesitate to recommend to family and friends when visiting Bath. We were pleased to have booked a spacious airy four poster bedroom as we experienced unusually warm Spring weather. Extremely comfortable bed. Very good breakfast choice and friendly staff.

“Great BnB”

Stayed here for the Easter holiday – had a great time.Staff are friendly and helpful. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable to sleep in. Chocolate eggs on the pillows was a nice touch! (Presume it was for Easter)Though the highlight was the breakfast. I was expecting a buffet style breakfast, as you get in most hotels. However, in Bailbrook Lodge, the breakfast was cooked fresh – and was delicious! Would happily come again.

“Honeymoon”

We went to Bath on our honeymoon and The Bailbrook Lodge is a beautiful Georgian Building with 5 bedroom suites with 4 Poster Beds. The rooms are large and very well decorated with period pieces of furniture and furnishings but also with all mod cons. We stayed here for the first night of our honeymoon in The Jane Austen Suite which has a 4 poster bed and beautiful views from our bay window over the gardens and over the surrounding countryside. A very peaceful room with an ensuite bathroom with wet room, courtesy tray with a get selection of teas, including herbals, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits, and bottled water. We got this nights accommodation as part of a wedding package at their sister business The Barn, Royal Tunbridge Wells. The number 13 bus from Bath bus station stops only about 50 yards up the road from the hotel so this was very convenient for visiting Bath. We loved sitting in the wing back chairs watching the sun go down in our room. I loved the fact that they put a chocolate on your pillow when you arrive and that they provide robes and slippers in the room. The breakfast in the morning was totally delicious as the fact that they have a bottle of champagne on the breakfast bar for the guests to help themselves is a lovely touch. We had only booked the one night as we were meeting family and had booked into a B&B which was supposed to be in the centre of Bath. Due to this accommodation not being what we had been lead to believe we ended up rebooking into The Bailbrook Lodge two days later for the rest of our honeymoon. When we arrived again we were greeted like old friends by Phil and found that we had been upgraded to The Beau Nash Suite which is another room with a 4 poster bed, wing back chairs, bay window overlooking the gardens just like The Jane Austen Suite. We stayed here for the last two days of our honeymoon and both mornings had scrambled eggs with smoked salmon on toast as part of our breakfast. They have a good range of cereals, fruit, yoghurts, probiotic yoghurt drinks, herbal teas, tea and coffee and about 8 different hot breakfasts that you can order. I was tempted to try the Eggs Benedict but did not this time. The also have deliciously warm freshly cooked croissants and pan a chocolat. When I go back to Bath to visit my relatives I will definitely be into The Bailbrook Lodge again as everything about the place is superb and all the staff are very friendly and helpful.

“Four poster bed. Wonderful views.”

We stayed here using a Wowcher voucher. The staff, hotel and everything about our stay was lovely. There was a family staying at the same time as us and a group of young Chinese teenagers, depending on what you are looking for this could be the perfect venue. We certainly enjoyed our stay. A short trip into town on the number 13 bus ensures no traffic or hassle parking. Well worth a £4.00 day tripper ticket to go on first buses all day.

“Fabulous stay”

We were delighted with our stay here. We received this as a present which included dinner at their sister hotel in the centre of Bath. Dinner was very well presented with good service. You could tell the tight people who had also got the meal as part of a package as they missed out by not having a starter and a desert as they were as exquisite as the main course. The staff at the Bailbrook were very helpful and keep a clean comfortable hotel. We had a room with a comfortable four poster bed. The room was large with a plentiful supply of tea and coffee. Bath robes and towels were of a high quality. You can pick up a bus to Bath just outside the driveway then go and enjoy the sights and sounds of Bath.

Period surroundings and a touch of decadence”

A delightful find for a sneaky night away in historic Bath. Lovely period features and quality furnishings. Gracious hosts and plenty of extra special little touches that set this beautiful lodge apart from other establishments. A terrific range of breakfast fayre served in a dining room overlooking the garden. You could really feel yourself stepping back in time but with the benefit of the modern accents. What lifts it to a new level of decadence is the addition of the welcome champagne on arrival and the availability at breakfast. A return visit is certainly on the cards and would definitely recommend

“Great property on outskirts of Bath”

Stayed here for 1 night as we did a Spa Break at Bath Therme Spa. On arrival at the hotel we were given a tour of the hotel. We stayed in room 26 which was a small twin but nicely fitted out. Comfortable twin beds, TV with DVD player built in, tea/coffee making facilities and bathroom ensuite. It had lovely views over the garden. The hotel has a car park for around 15 cars and we ended up leaving the car there. To get into Bath City centre walk out of the hotel and cross the road. Walk up to the bus stop and catch either the number 13 or the 231 bus into town. Fare was £2.20 one way or get a day Rover ticket for £4 unlimited bus travel and use for the return. Journey time was under 10 minutes. When catching the bus back, go to the bus station and get the number 13 bus. Make sure you get on the one marked Bathford not Foxhill. This is found on the bus stop opposite the bus station. It will stop virtually outside the hotel. Breakfast at the hotel was superb and the room was very comfortable. Would recommend this as a cheaper option to visit Bath rather than paying Bath more expensive prices. Only 10 minutes away but nice and quiet. Service at hotel was brilliant. The directions were spot on and bought us direct to the hotel.

“Great hotel break”

My husband and I stayed at the Bailbrook lodge overnight on a Travelzoo deal. We were warmly welcomed and this continued throughout our stay. Staff were friendly and helpful giving us suggestions on how to spend our time in Bath. The hotel is quirky and comfortable with lovely views over the garden. I would have loved to see it in the summer. Our room was comfortable, with plenty of mod cons. There were chocolates on our pillows and slippers provided. The only drawback we found was that my husband found the slipper bath a bit small and you can’t shower in it. Our afternoon tea was good and the breakfast – with bucks fizz was also lovely. As part of the deal we had a three course meal in the sister hotel The Royal. This was also very tasty with a good choice of menu. The deal was excellent value at £89 for the two of us. I would highly recommended it and would definitely stay there again.

“A great little find”

We had a great stay at the lodge. The staff we very friendly and helpful and the room was very clean. The link with The Royal Hotel in the centre of Bath was great as we had lunch their as part of the deal. Breakfast was everything we wish for with a table in the bay window overlooking the lovely gardens. A really lovely stay and will pay them a visit soon.

“Excellent two night break”

This was my second visit to Bailbrook Lodge and this time we opted for a suite with a four poster bed. The Lodge is a marvellous old house, appropriately furnished, and in a great location. Our room was fantastic and the bed was extremely comfortable. Ample supplies of tea/coffee/chocolate and biscuits in our room on arrival. We also had an Ipod dock which was great. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We could not fault the service. Breakfast was good, with a selection of fruit, cereals, yogurts and croissants, as well as a cooked breakfast. I had the salmon and scrambled eggs which was lovely and my partner opted for a full English breakfast. We also had Bucks Fizz for breakfast the second morning as it was my birthday and seemed an appropriate way to start the day!!! We were given a brochure about Bath and Patrick, one of the owners of the hotel, had recommended the Mayor’s free 2 hour guided walk that leaves from outside the Roman Baths at 10:30 and 14:30. We joined the morning tour and we learnt so much about Bath that I had missed on my previous visit. The guide also had a good sense of humour and the two hours past very quickly. I really recommend this tour. We used the frequent bus service that stops about 100 yards from the hotel and takes about ten minutes into the centre of town. We managed to get into Sotto Sotto, a well respected Italian restaurant, on the second night – better to book ahead though. An excellent meal, lovely ambience and discreet , professional service. Would definitely stay at Bailbrook Lodge again.
