What people say about us...

"Superb new management team”
We stayed in one of the four poster bedrooms on the first floor. The room was large and it had a large bay window to the front of the building with lovely views. Because the hotel is listed there are a few things which they are not able to change, and this room had a few things which were rather unique. The sink was outside of the bathroom, but as the room was large this was not a great problem. There was a beautiful fireplace in the room. The decor is what you would probably expect from an old hotel, no really modern furnishings, but lots of tea, coffee, biscuits and a coffee percolator in the room. There was also a hairdryer and a trouser press there were 2 chairs in the bay window overlooking the gardens. The breakfast was made to order and was good. I must say that the new management are superb, and their level of customer service is fantastic. Congratulations to Phil and Terence for making our stay such a good one.

"Wished that we could have stayed longer.”
This was our second visit to this friendly B & B. We enjoy the ambience of this relatively small establishment where the staff really seem to care a out giving good service. Our room was relatively small but well equipped and it had a comfortable bed. It is a fair distance from Bath City Centre but it is worthwhile staying there as it is nice and quiet. It should be borne in mind that due to its age there are no lifts and the stairs to the upper floors could be unforgiving to the less able.

"An excellent stay at short notice”
My partner and I stopped in on the off chance of getting a room for the night having spotted  the lodge while driving past. Our reception was fantastic and the staff were very helpful in getting us a room even during the first weekend of half term. The decor was wonderful, very Jane Austin, the food at breakfast, delicious and the complimentary champagne really did start the day off well. All in all a wonderful stay, the price was right, the staff delightful and the bed incredibly comfortable. I would recommend this hotel to anybody visiting bath and indeed come to bath just to stay here!

"Return after a year”
My husband and I have stayed at the Bailbrook Lodge about four times now, the last time this October. The room has been refurbished and is very pleasant although quite small, the beds are extremely comfortable and you have the feeling that the bed linen, duvets, towels etc, are new. I made a comment on our previous visit that the coffee and tea facilities were very poor. On this visit we found fresh coffee, tea, etc., in abundance and was topped up every day. The breakfast, with a glass of champagne, is freshly cooked and served in very attractive surroundings. A very pleasant stay which I would recommend to anyone.

"Brilliant value”
We stayed for one night at the Bailbrook Lodge on a weekend break. I loved its location - close to town but a bit more peaceful with lots of parking and a fair bit of space.  The building is lovely and we stayed in the Jane Austen suite which is really spacious with a four poster and wet room bathroom. Very clean and tidy with two armchairs in the window so you can sit and look out over the garden.  The staff were really friendly and approachable but leave you to get on with things which I like!  We had a great nights sleep and enjoyed breakfast in the morning - it's a charming dining room with a fantastic range of food and drinks - although we didn't avail ourselves of the free champagne as I had to drive home, boooo. This hotel was excellent value for money and we'd definitely return.

"Great Stay in Bath”
The rooms at the Bailbrook Lodge are fantastic for a special get-a-way. We stayed here for my birthday ( a present from my partner) on 3/4 October. The reception was very welcoming and Philip at reception showed us around the hotel is which is small and compact. The only downside is that there is no lift (and we were on the top floor). We were told that this was due to the hotel being Grade II listed. Breakfast was included in the stay and was nice & tasty and well presented. We also had lunch included in our stay which we took at the sister hotel, The Royal, in Bath. To get into Bath from the hotel you will need either a good pair of walking shoes/your car/taxi. However, this was a small inconvenience since the hotel was good value for money. I would stay here again.

"Tremendous value on the edge of Bath”
Visiting friends who were staying at The Bailbrook Hotel, I erroneously booked the Lodge for the night.(apparently a frequently made mistake) However at 40% of the price and just a driveway from our dinner date We were well pleased. Booked into the Jane Austin room (allegedly haunted) with a four poster we had a superb South facing room with a good view or the garden and distant hills. Trees filtered the road noise. Reception was friendly and efficient. We understand that some people complain about the e-suit facilities as the original wash basin is in the room (although shower and toilet are en-suite) but that is semantics: It's part of the overall charm. We did not see a ghost (pity!) Breakfast was outstanding and includes complimentary Champagne. One's choice cooked to perfection with very good coffee. This is a particularly well managed, welcoming hotel. Parking is tight as not everyone keeps to their bays; but well off road. Visitors can reach central Bath by bus, taxi or walking if one doesn't want to drive and park.

"Beautiful classic Georgian House”
I stayed in this hotel for business. The hotel is easily accessed from the A4 and on the outskirts of bath. It has ample parking at the rear and the area seemed to be safe. Up the hill is a larger (and grander) hotel, which is within easy walking distance and serves a fantastic menu of food and wine, making it ideal for a weekend getaway. It has free wi-fi. Bailbrook Lodge is a converted grand house and the rooms retain the Georgian splendour the house might have seen at its zenith. The rooms, from what I saw, are all of a decent size with classic decor. The room was en-suite with a toilet and shower in a separate room and the sink in the main area. There was a Corby trouser press, an ironing board and iron. There was also a small flat screen TV with built-in DVD player, which folds out from the wardrobe. There were tea/coffee making facilities that included ground coffee and a small cafetiere press. My room faced out at the rear and was nice and quiet. The restaurant/breakfast room was pretty and faced out across a beautiful garden. For breakfast they have the typical fare of full English breakfast, but also Kippers or Eggs Benedict if you so desire. There was also a selection of cereals, fruits, bread, and fruit juices. I was extremely pleased with the quality of the food.  The hotel also had a small lounge with a bar, although it was not very large. A good place to stop before moving on to somewhere for dinner, perhaps. I would highly recommend this hotel as a place to go with a partner, and plan to take my wife there next time I am near Bath.

"Lovely experience”
We spent a relaxing 2 nights on a spa break at this charming inn. Having read some of the reviews, I felt trepidation; but the fears were unfounded. The staff was most accommodating, breakfast was delicious and the room was quite comfortable. The spa break package is a good value. The four-poster bedroom (Lincoln Suite) was very spacious. I recommend upgrading to one if it is available.

"Wanted for nothing”
Great location, on arrival we were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff. The room was far better than expected and met all our needs and loved the walk in shower. The bed was so comfortable and if it were not for the champagne with breakfast I could have stayed there all day!. Overall a very relaxing experience and well worth the money.

"Amazing hotel and brilliant staff”
My husband and I stayed at this stunning hotel for our 3rd wedding anniversary and we couldn't have had a more wonderful time. The staff were so helpful, polite and always willing to recommend things to do during our 2 day stay. The breakfast was amazing - a cold buffet with juices, cereals, yogurts and even champagne! You order your cooked breakfast and it is brought out very quickly - also the same with tea/coffee and toast. There is a handy bus stop less than 100 yards down the road that goes straight to Bath centre (right outside the station - I believe Dorchester Street). We stayed in one of the suites with a 4 poster bed and en suite bathroom which was so comfortable and spacious - we genuinely couldn't have asked for a more perfect setting to celebrate 3 years of marriage - thank you so much to all the staff and management at The Bailbrook Lodge - we will be back!

"Wonderful quaint hotel on the outskirts of Bath”
We had a wonderful 4 night stay in this most English of Hotels. Upon arrival we were greeted by the staff, more as friends than guests and it set the tone for our whole stay. We were given a lovely spacious room looking out into the garden with a beautiful 4 poster bed. We were travelling with our kids aged 7 and 10, so it is always a challenge to get them to sleep and not have to sit in the dark whispering, unable to do anything. In this suite, there was an adjoining room with 2 singles for the kids, so we could put them to bed, close a door and still swig a Gin and Tonic whilst watching TV and listening to music without them being disturbed and allowing us to be adults for a few hours. Marvellous!.We were able to make the kids room very dark, so they did not wake up at dawn (a first!), so we got to sleep until 8:30 am each morning on the most comfortable mattress I have ever found in a Hotel.  The toilet/bathroom was on the small side which was fine for my wife and kids, but being taller, I had to take a little care in the shower not to touch my head on the ceiling bulkhead. Coming from Dubai, I am used to the very best of the best in Hotels and service, so if I can only find the bijou bathroom to balance my otherwise enthusiastic and gushing review, it should speak volumes about the Hotel and most importantly, the wonderful accommodating staff. Truly excellent.  We stayed 24 days in the UK in many Hotels and this is the only review I have bothered to write as I feel more people should be able to find Bailbrook Lodge. Top marks to the fabulous staff - we will be back!

Enormous bed!”
A super hotel, very relaxing and comfortable. Extremely friendly staff willing to help and give advice about things to do and see and a beautiful room with a great view and the most enormous and comfortable bed we have ever slept in, this meant that I even managed to sleep (snoring husband) due to him being so far away! A half an hour walk in by the road means you get to see some of the incredible architecture and browse past some fascinating antique and furniture restorers shops and an hour walk in along the canal, totally different, peaceful, serene, only sound is the birds and the life of the residents and holidaymakers on their barges. A definite recommendation from us. Thank you Bailbrook.
"Lovely hotel with a real historical charm ”
My partner and I stayed here late July 2014 and were impressed! Our 4 poster room was stunning, with all the amenities we needed and was very comfortable. The hotel manager (I presume) was a lovely friendly lady, who clearly took pride in her work and the hotel. Breakfast was good and cooked well. And the garden/grounds were very peaceful and very well maintained. We opted to walk into Bath which took about 20 minutes, although buses were frequent. We found the position of the Bailbrook lodge just close enough to the town centre but far away enough from the hustle and bustle of city life. All in all thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay!

"Wonderful weekend break”
Found this hotel on internet. From moment we arrive we were treated like old friends. Cream teas in garden to really enjoyable breakfasts. First rate rooms Spotlessly clean. Nothing was too much trouble. If only all B&Bs could be like this. Oh yes. Right on bus route to city centre. 10mins. A really good weekend break

"A break in our journey”
We booked Bailbrook Lodge as a stopover on the way to the South West ( Cornwall). A good sized room on the ground floor with a high standard of décor and facilities. The staff we had contact with were friendly and helpful and breakfast the following morning was excellent. We spent an evening in Bath which is convenient for the hotel and well worth a visit.

TripAdvisor - August 2014

"Quirky, friendly and relaxing”
We booked Bailbrook Lodge as we wanted something different to your bog standard Premier Inn. We had a four poster bedroom which overlooked the garden, well worth paying that little extra. Even though we were near the road and slept with the window wide open we heard nothing. Due to the age of the property the sink is separate from the toilet/shower but we loved the quirkiness. The staff could not have been more helpful or attentive. We arrived early and left our car in the car park and headed off into Bath on the bus. The manageress (Justine, I think) was brilliant gave us all the information we needed. After a long day in Bath we came back to Bailbrook Lodge and had a drink in the garden. The next day at breakfast we had a huge selection to choose from and the food was excellent, as was the service, Will definitely be going back again. Thank you for making our stay so special.

"Fabulous Stay”
We stayed in a four poster en-suite room in this beautiful Georgian Manor House. The location was perfect, very close to Bath and although near a main road we didn't hear any traffic during the night. A wonderful setting, very comfortable and charming rooms and a fantastic champagne breakfast. Everything was clean, the staff were attentive and professional and a particular thank you to Justine and Jacqui who were welcoming and extremely helpful.

"Wonderful Experience”
We stayed here during our 3 night visit to Bath and could not be happier. The included Full English breakfast was amazing, both delicious and hot with a large variety of selections to choose from. The charm of staying in a 200 year old mansion was unbeatable. We splurged a bit and stayed in one of the 5 four poster bedrooms. The room was very large and our view over the expansive lawn was delightful. Very comfortable bed - I've never seen such a large king size bed!! We were a bit nervous about the location as the B&B is a bit out of the city centre and didn't want to drive more than we had to as we are from America. The Manager was very helpful and directed us to the bus that runs just out front of the hotel on London Road. The bus could not have been easier! The bus driver sold the tickets (get a day round trip ticket) and it was only 12 minutes by bus to the city centre. I'm glad we chose a place just outside of downtown so we got to experience more of Bath. Another tip - we took the manager's advise and walked from the hotel (8 to 10 minute walk tops) down to the Bathampton Mill Restaurant for dinner our first night. It was wonderful!! We loved it so much we went back the 2nd night. Everyone on staff was delightful and went out of their way to assist and make us happy. If you are expecting a Holiday Inn, this is not for you. This is a lovely, 200 year old mansion that is tastefully decorated with some quirks - but that's why we stayed here and are glad we did.

"Thank you :)”
We booked a room at the last minute through Booking .com and when we arrived 11pm we found out they didn't have any booking confirmation.  Lady at the reception was so lovely and helpful and decided to give us a room anyway for which we are really grateful. Good size room for value with hygienic bathroom .Breakfast was tasty, clean table setting and clean service. Many thanks to lovely lady once again .

"Wonderful gem”
We visited the Bailbrook Lodge with friends during a recent visit to the U.K.. The Lodge has tremendous character and personality- from the staff to the rooms - which are each a bit different. One notable difference in the rooms was that ours had a claw-footed bath, while our friends had a shower/bath combination (This is important as it was hard for one elderly member of our group to get in and out of the high basins- so it might be something to request or inquire about when booking). The staff was very attentive- particularly Daryl who was always eager to answer questions and help. We met the owner twice. He was around one of the days and we mentioned that it would be nice to have non-slip mats for in the shower and within minutes he had ordered some.  Having the bus stop so close made for easy exploration into the city- as we could leave the car at the Lodge and venture at our own leisure- without the hassle of trying to find parking. Breakfast was another highlight. When you enter the breakfast room there is a long buffet with an assortment of granolas, fruit, yogurts, breads, and juice. To many that would be enough to satisfy at a European accommodation- but at the Bailbrook a delicious full hot English breakfast was included. We found the Bailbrook Lodge through a TravelZoo deal. The deal included the accommodations, a bottle of wine, a wonderful three-course meal at the Brasserie Brunel (located within a partner hotel in town - perfect location to break up a day of sightseeing), and  afternoon tea.  As it was rather cold during our stay, we enjoyed our afternoon tea by the fireplace in the community sitting room. It included an assortment of sandwiches, crisps, scones, and tea. The room features a window out to the garden, board games and plenty of reading material to enjoy a relaxing evening in. They have free wi-fi throughout the building. It was stronger in some spots than others and I found that it was better in our room than in the common areas. It was very quiet at the Lodge during our visit since it was out of tourist season. We had a wonderful stay and all 4 of us agree that we would definitely return after this experience- and have recommended it to friends who will be visiting Bath.

"Lovely break”
Had 2 night stay with wife as a birthday treat from family. Wonderful place to stay. Lovely building, glorious setting and garden, room had everything we could want. Loved the bath robes and slippers. View from our room on 1sf floor was stunning overlooking the hills across the valley. Staff went out of their way to help and were very friendly. Breakfast was superb, lovely buffet selection and the full English was awesome.

"Everything you could want from a B & B!”
We've just had a fantastic weekend in Bath staying at Bailbrook Lodge. We arrived late on Friday night and were shown around - very quickly as we were late for supper at friends - by Jackie the deputy manager. She was helpful and friendly and to the point - just right! Our room was lovely - small and cosy with a big window overlooking the pretty garden with a small dressing room and en suite shower room. The bed linens were crisp and comfy, the bath towels big and fluffy and the shower was hot. The breakfasts we had both mornings were spot on - freshly cooked to perfection and served by happy and friendly staff. I really couldn't ask for more from a B & B. Well done -we will definitely be back!

"A wonderful memorable weekend”
A fantastic weekend in a beautiful hotel close to Bath city centre and to the beautiful Kennet and Avon canal. We were extremely pleased with our ground floor room with views across the magnificent garden. The staff were very welcoming and ensured our stay was first class. Brilliant breakfast, all our requests catered for, we will definitely be back. Thank you so much.

"Great Hotel”
We've had a lovely 2 night break here which included a 2 hour session in the Thermae Spa, and afternoon champagne cream tea, along with breakfast each morning. All the staff are very welcoming and helpful, but a particular thank you to Dayrell and Jackie. The Jane Austen room is lovely and large with a fab wet room, digital tv, complimentary water and assorted teas and coffee. All the four poster rooms have lovely views over the garden. The free wifi was an added bonus. Bath is a 30 min walk away, but if you don't fancy walking, buses and taxis’ are plentiful and reasonably priced. Highly recommend this accommodation.

"Wonderful 3 night break in Bath”
We much enjoyed our stay with you. Dayrell welcomed us. We found the buses very convenient. Stayed in magical Jane Austen suite with its view over the garden. Plenty of thoughtful touches, e.g. cafetiere and ground coffee, leaf tea, Horlicks even! We both enjoyed our breakfasts. A delicious fruit salad was on offer each morning. The Theatre was as wonderful as ever and we were pleased we visited 1, The Crescent. We would certainly recommend Bailbrook Lodge!

"Beautiful hotel, perfectly located”
We simply couldn't fault our stay at Bailbrook Lodge. The staff were attentive without being over the top/in your face and nothing was too much trouble - if we needed something, we only had to ask.
We stayed in the beautiful Jane Austen suite, which enjoyed views from the bay window out to the garden below. It was beautifully and perfectly appointed - tasteful decor (considering the house's period), a divine & very comfortable four poster bed (with feather pillows - a serious plus point for me!) and a very lovely en suite wet room. Great facilities too - digital TV, tea/coffee making facilities and wonderfully large mirrors and windows.Breakfast was delicious - just the right amount, and a great selection from the cold buffet too. We particularly enjoyed the sausages that were part of our cooked breakfasts. And if all that wasn't enough ... You're only 10 minutes away from the centre of Bath, one of the most beautiful places in England. You're close enough to get to it but not right in the thick of the late night 'hustle and bustle' - perfect if you're looking for a relaxing break. We delighted in enjoying a morning tea and coffee in our room before breakfast listening to the birdsong from the garden.Blissful. We will absolutely return

"Weekend at Bailbrook”
I stayed a Bailbrook last weekend, I've stayed here before by myself in one of their standard doubles, but this time stayed in a 4 poster suite with my wife. The room was great, large with a great view. It was nice just to sit and look out the window. The staff as always very friendly and pleasant, the breakfast was very good with a good selection. The manager there was very helpful and friendly and spent quite some time with us suggesting things we could do on a rainy weekend. All in all had a good weekend, will stay here again.

"Lovely romantic stay with very friendly staff!”
We have just returned from a one night stay at the Bailbrook Lodge Bath for a special occasion, and were not disappointed. Firstly, we were greeted by a lovely member of staff who were very friendly and very helpful, showing us around and offering any assistance they could on the local area and maps of Bath. Our room was lovely, very big and we had a gorgeous 4 poster bed with a lovely view of the gardens. The breakfast range was great, offering a cold buffet and hot food such as a full English or bacon sandwiches, and also the extra of a glass of champagne with breakfast which was a great touch. Overall a lovely stay, we would love to go again.

"Gorgeous and tranquil, a real treat!”
Stayed here recently with some girlfriends, it was superb! A beautiful hotel with all its original features intact. Beautiful and comfortable, thoughtfully decorated and furnished and very festive. Had a fab weekend, excellent (and cheap) taxi service in to town centre, enjoyed the Christmas market and some good food and a few bars in Bath. Had a great nights sleep later in the lovely four poster bed, with a wonderful breakfast to top it all off. Can't fault the place, excellent and friendly service, can't wait to return with my man next! Thank you everyone at Bailbrook Lodge.

"Fantastic place!”
Myself and three girlfriends decided to escape from Cheltenham last weekend (minus little people) and make for the experience that is Bath Christmas Markets. The weather was fantastic - if a little chilly - but our experience of Bailbrook Lodge just outside of the City centre was amazing. This is a truly beautiful place and very festive. Obviously a lot of thought has been put into the running of this Guest House-the friendly welcome and general air of a well organised team made us all feel very welcome. The rooms are clean and well furnished-we slept in four posters which were out of this world, not to mention the mind blowing breakfast. We have all resolved to bring our other halves back here in the New Year to partake in what is "The Bailbrook Lodge" experience-superb!

"Visiting Bath - Bailbrook Lodge”
Returned last weekend (10th November) from a week end visit to Bath. Stayed at the Bailbrook Lodge and was not disappointed. Very helpful staff, comfortable accommodation and a fantastic champagne breakfast, cooked to order. Location great for a bus ride or healthy stroll into the city of Bath, if you do not want to drive and park. Well worth a visit.

"Great little place”
Warm friendly welcome on arrival - and shown to a large well appointed room with a four poster bed. Loads of coffee, tea and other drinks available. We walked into town - 30 minutes to central Bath. The full English breakfast was also very good and with a veggie option. Definitely recommend this hotel.

"Very comfortable accommodation, great breakfast”
My sister and I spent one night here, and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to stay in this charming Georgian house. It would be a bit of a hike to walk into Bath from here, but I think we could have easily taken a bus into the city if we didn't want to take the car. The breakfast was wonderful -- we started our day with a Buck's Fizz, fruit salad, Eggs Benedict and toast made with home-made brown bread. Wonderful!

"Superb Weekend”
Found this lovely place from this site so I booked for a surprise for my wife's birthday treat. We had a suite overlooking the front garden in this lovely period house. We had a four poster bed in this large room with an equally large bay window with views across the garden to the valley beyond. There was ground coffee available in the room as well as tea with a pot, which makes a nice change! There was an en suite wet room and plenty of toiletries supplied. We also had dressing gowns supplied. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and the breakfast complete with complimentary champagne, was freshly cooked to order, it was great. We were even more surprised at finding the Lodge full when we came downstairs as we had not heard a thing during the night or first thing! We had a superb week end in Bath which is only 35 mins walk away for the fit an able if not there is a good bus service nearby. We highly recommend the Lodge and will go back again.
