"Lovely break”
Had 2 night stay with wife as a birthday treat from family. Wonderful place to stay. Lovely building, glorious setting and garden, room had everything we could want. Loved the bath robes and slippers. View from our room on 1sf floor was stunning overlooking the hills across the valley. Staff went out of their way to help and were very friendly. Breakfast was superb, lovely buffet selection and the full English was awesome.

"Everything you could want from a B & B!”
We've just had a fantastic weekend in Bath staying at Bailbrook Lodge. We arrived late on Friday night and were shown around - very quickly as we were late for supper at friends - by Jackie the deputy manager. She was helpful and friendly and to the point - just right! Our room was lovely - small and cosy with a big window overlooking the pretty garden with a small dressing room and en suite shower room. The bed linens were crisp and comfy, the bath towels big and fluffy and the shower was hot. The breakfasts we had both mornings were spot on - freshly cooked to perfection and served by happy and friendly staff. I really couldn't ask for more from a B & B. Well done -we will definitely be back!

"A wonderful memorable weekend”
A fantastic weekend in a beautiful hotel close to Bath city centre and to the beautiful Kennet and Avon canal. We were extremely pleased with our ground floor room with views across the magnificent garden. The staff were very welcoming and ensured our stay was first class. Brilliant breakfast, all our requests catered for, we will definitely be back. Thank you so much.

"Great Hotel”
We've had a lovely 2 night break here which included a 2 hour session in the Thermae Spa, and afternoon champagne cream tea, along with breakfast each morning. All the staff are very welcoming and helpful, but a particular thank you to Dayrell and Jackie. The Jane Austen room is lovely and large with a fab wet room, digital tv, complimentary water and assorted teas and coffee. All the four poster rooms have lovely views over the garden. The free wifi was an added bonus. Bath is a 30 min walk away, but if you don't fancy walking, buses and taxis’ are plentiful and reasonably priced. Highly recommend this accommodation.

"Wonderful 3 night break in Bath”
We much enjoyed our stay with you. Dayrell welcomed us. We found the buses very convenient. Stayed in magical Jane Austen suite with its view over the garden. Plenty of thoughtful touches, e.g. cafetiere and ground coffee, leaf tea, Horlicks even! We both enjoyed our breakfasts. A delicious fruit salad was on offer each morning. The Theatre was as wonderful as ever and we were pleased we visited 1, The Crescent. We would certainly recommend Bailbrook Lodge!

"Beautiful hotel, perfectly located”
We simply couldn't fault our stay at Bailbrook Lodge. The staff were attentive without being over the top/in your face and nothing was too much trouble - if we needed something, we only had to ask.
We stayed in the beautiful Jane Austen suite, which enjoyed views from the bay window out to the garden below. It was beautifully and perfectly appointed - tasteful decor (considering the house's period), a divine & very comfortable four poster bed (with feather pillows - a serious plus point for me!) and a very lovely en suite wet room. Great facilities too - digital TV, tea/coffee making facilities and wonderfully large mirrors and windows.Breakfast was delicious - just the right amount, and a great selection from the cold buffet too. We particularly enjoyed the sausages that were part of our cooked breakfasts. And if all that wasn't enough ... You're only 10 minutes away from the centre of Bath, one of the most beautiful places in England. You're close enough to get to it but not right in the thick of the late night 'hustle and bustle' - perfect if you're looking for a relaxing break. We delighted in enjoying a morning tea and coffee in our room before breakfast listening to the birdsong from the garden.Blissful. We will absolutely return

"Best weekend ever! ”
I cannot fault Bailbrook lodge at all. The staff were so friendly and the place itself was beautiful. It was so clean, and breakfast was amazing! There were endless choices and nothing seemed too much trouble. We were made to feel extremely welcome and Intend to return very soon!

"Great one night stay”
We stayed here when we went to the Big Church Night in. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, room was spacious, comfortable and with a brilliant view. There were lovely touches such as cafetiere for a good coffee. Super soft towels and a lovely warm wet room. Breakfast was superb, cooked on demand and spoilt for choice. Will definitely stay here again when in the area.

"Weekend at Bailbrook”
I stayed a Bailbrook last weekend, I've stayed here before by myself in one of their standard doubles, but this time stayed in a 4 poster suite with my wife. The room was great, large with a great view. It was nice just to sit and look out the window. The staff as always very friendly and pleasant, the breakfast was very good with a good selection. The manager there was very helpful and friendly and spent quite some time with us suggesting things we could do on a rainy weekend. All in all had a good weekend, will stay here again.

"Lovely romantic stay with very friendly staff!”
We have just returned from a one night stay at the Bailbrook Lodge Bath for a special occasion, and were not disappointed. Firstly, we were greeted by a lovely member of staff who were very friendly and very helpful, showing us around and offering any assistance they could on the local area and maps of Bath. Our room was lovely, very big and we had a gorgeous 4 poster bed with a lovely view of the gardens. The breakfast range was great, offering a cold buffet and hot food such as a full English or bacon sandwiches, and also the extra of a glass of champagne with breakfast which was a great touch. Overall a lovely stay, we would love to go again.

"Gorgeous and tranquil, a real treat!”
Stayed here recently with some girlfriends, it was superb! A beautiful hotel with all its original features intact. Beautiful and comfortable, thoughtfully decorated and furnished and very festive. Had a fab weekend, excellent (and cheap) taxi service in to town centre, enjoyed the Christmas market and some good food and a few bars in Bath. Had a great nights sleep later in the lovely four poster bed, with a wonderful breakfast to top it all off. Can't fault the place, excellent and friendly service, can't wait to return with my man next! Thank you everyone at Bailbrook Lodge.

TripAdvisor - December 2013

"Fantastic place!”
Myself and three girlfriends decided to escape from Cheltenham last weekend (minus little people) and make for the experience that is Bath Christmas Markets. The weather was fantastic - if a little chilly - but our experience of Bailbrook Lodge just outside of the City centre was amazing. This is a truly beautiful place and very festive. Obviously a lot of thought has been put into the running of this Guest House-the friendly welcome and general air of a well organised team made us all feel very welcome. The rooms are clean and well furnished-we slept in four posters which were out of this world, not to mention the mind blowing breakfast. We have all resolved to bring our other halves back here in the New Year to partake in what is "The Bailbrook Lodge" experience-superb!

"Visiting Bath - Bailbrook Lodge”
Returned last weekend (10th November) from a week end visit to Bath. Stayed at the Bailbrook Lodge and was not disappointed. Very helpful staff, comfortable accommodation and a fantastic champagne breakfast, cooked to order. Location great for a bus ride or healthy stroll into the city of Bath, if you do not want to drive and park. Well worth a visit.

"Great little place”
Warm friendly welcome on arrival - and shown to a large well appointed room with a four poster bed. Loads of coffee, tea and other drinks available. We walked into town - 30 minutes to central Bath. The full English breakfast was also very good and with a veggie option. Definitely recommend this hotel.

"Very comfortable accommodation, great breakfast”
My sister and I spent one night here, and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to stay in this charming Georgian house. It would be a bit of a hike to walk into Bath from here, but I think we could have easily taken a bus into the city if we didn't want to take the car. The breakfast was wonderful -- we started our day with a Buck's Fizz, fruit salad, Eggs Benedict and toast made with home-made brown bread. Wonderful!

"Superb Weekend”
Found this lovely place from this site so I booked for a surprise for my wife's birthday treat. We had a suite overlooking the front garden in this lovely period house. We had a four poster bed in this large room with an equally large bay window with views across the garden to the valley beyond. There was ground coffee available in the room as well as tea with a pot, which makes a nice change! There was an en suite wet room and plenty of toiletries supplied. We also had dressing gowns supplied. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and the breakfast complete with complimentary champagne, was freshly cooked to order, it was great. We were even more surprised at finding the Lodge full when we came downstairs as we had not heard a thing during the night or first thing! We had a superb week end in Bath which is only 35 mins walk away for the fit an able if not there is a good bus service nearby. We highly recommend the Lodge and will go back again.

"Fantastic stay that topped my surprise engagement to my girlfriend”
Our stay at Bailbrook was fantastic. Upon arrival we were given a tour golf the hotel and where to find everything. We were shown to our room which was a fantastic four poster looking out over the garden. The sink was in an odd place however the explanation that the building is listed made perfect sense and was understandable. Every member of staff we met was friendly and helpful. We were made to feel very welcome. All questions were answered that we had and plenty of information was provided. We were shown where we could catch a bus and which one to go into Bath but the weather was so nice we walked. Which brought back memories growing up at Bailbrook when visiting relatives. The breakfast in the morning was great and to order, a perfect start to the day. Again all staff went out of their way to help. I highly recommend people to stay here and enjoy the charm of the place. Even in the nice summer evenings sitting in the garden. My other half travels a lot in her job staying at 5 star hotels all over the world provided by her work. She said this was one of the best places she has stayed and was up there with the hotels.

"Beautiful Bailbrook”
We stayed at Bailbrook lodge with 2 of our grown up children. We had a four poster bed, the girls a separate room, with 2 single beds. There were tea/coffee/hot chocolate facilities, plenty of biscuits, and even chocolates on our beds. It was all beautiful, our room was downstairs, with a huge window opening to the manicured lawns and gardens. Lucky for us we had great weather, and were able to leave windows open to enjoy the breeze. Beds were very comfortable, bathroom was off the girls bedroom, but was very clean, supply of soap, hair products and body lotion, and sewing kits. No shower caps, but we had bought our own, anyway.Breakfast was wonderful! Full English breakfast was served, or you could have an order of anything else on their menu. It was bought to our table very quickly, buy a lovely cheerful lady. Checkout was also done very quickly and efficiently, and brief history of the lodge was given. We were also oven advice about Bath, where to park etc. We all enjoyed our brief stay, would have loved to stay longer - maybe next time! Thanks to the staff, Bailbrook Lodge helped us enjoy our time together.

Our new favourite place to stay in Bath”
Thoroughly recommended for a short stay near Bath. Very Friendly and helpful staff, and a fantastic location (easy to find, and ideal for Bath as well as the many nearby sites and attractions). The building has a good mix of period character and modern convenience, and is kept very clean. Our room had a wonderful balcony view, a large comfortable double bed, and the en-suite bathroom was excellent and well equipped with a slipper bath. The breakfasts are also very good! We will be visiting again...

"A B&B in Bath not to be missed”
Recently stayed at the Bailbrook Lodge, a 5 star bed and breakfast just on the edge of Bath (but within 20 min walk /10 min drive to the centre). On the London Rd easy to find and from the moment you arrive the staff could not be more helpful. The rooms are very comfortable we had a lovely slipper bath, also tea, coffee facilities but unusually a cafetiere in the room with freshly ground coffee. The garden is lovely to have a quiet sit and you are offered tea/coffee in the sitting room when you have settled in. Breakfast here is a must a fabulous choice , champagne if you want and again staff who are helpful and friendly. We would thoroughly recommend this lodge and will be visiting again!

 "A very special weekend”
We have just returned from a long weekend to bath to celebrate twenty five years together, we chose Bailbrook lodge and upgraded to a four poster suite. The suite was beautiful with all the facilities needed. The staff were warm and friendly and gave good advice about places to go and transport to use. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of hot and cold choices and the service was very prompt. Bailbrook Is only a ten minute journey from the city centre on the bus and set back from the road so very quiet. Ample car parking and set in a perfect location. Thank you for a lovely stay, we will definitely be returning.

"Simply perfect”
Fantastic stay, made to feel very welcome by all the staff who couldn't help enough. A special mention to Ed for his help, advising on places to go and places to eat, a credit to the hotel. A beautiful hotel full of character and quirks. Handy for going into Bath by bus saved trying to park but suitably based to launch out into the wider area. Our children booked us into the hotel for a week as a surprise and could not have picked a better hotel ourselves. Would highly recommend - thank you Bailbrook Lodge for making our stay a fantastic break to remember. Excellent across the board!

"Calm and relaxing stay. So welcoming.”
My wife and I stayed just for one night and have promised ourselves an early return soon. Justine welcomed us with coffee and biscuits followed by taking us to our extremely pleasant room. Justine takes much pride in the smallest of detail such as making sure that each soap in the bedroom has the wrapping facing exactly in the right position, check it out! After a very comfortable night, plenty of spare pillows and blanket, we thoroughly enjoyed a delicious breakfast that arrived fresh and hot. There was no sign of it being cooked previously and being kept warm. The hotel was ideally situated by being a ten minute bus ride into the centre of Bath and we were able to leave our car there. The bus stopped just outside the Lodge for both directions making travel easy.We plan a return soon and definitely take advantage of a two night stay.  Having read some of the previous negative reviews, we found these to be very much unfounded. Our stay was excellent, comfortable and homely. Thank you Justine for your hospitality.

"A little bit of heaven in the countryside”
We were very tired Americans when we arrived at the lodge. Greeted right away by Justine who gave us all her attention. She gave us the tour and took us up to our second floor room. Great view, canopy bed, etc...we fell asleep for several hours and woke up hungry. Justine directed us to a pub about 10 minutes walking ...great experience and we went back our 2nd night. Breakfast was lovely...so much selection...service was excellent...made new friends...the weather turned windy, rainy and cold...but it is an old building ..we grabbed a couple of blankets...and snuggled. Price was great...I will stay here when I return...

"Another lovely stay.......”
Another lovely stay at Bailbrook Lodge, we have stayed several times and always look forward to our return. The rooms are comfortable and homely, the staff are friendly and always thoughtful and accommodating. The setting is beautiful and the character of the Lodge makes for a tranquil stay. The breakfasts are great, as someone who doesn't eat meat there is always plenty of choice and the staff are always happy and approachable. Ample parking is available. We look forward to future stays and would and have recommended Bailbrook Lodge as the place to stay when visiting Bath.

"Lovely b&b”
Lovely quaint lodge in beautiful garden setting. Room small but very comfortable and fabulous slipper bath. Great breakfast, whatever you'd like from an extensive cooked breakfast menu and cereals, croissants and juice available on the buffet. Staff extremely friendly and accommodating when I asked for extra blankets due to the rather chilly and unusual May weather! Definitely on my list for my next trip to Bath

"Personal touch hotel”
We stayed at this hotel for my 50th birthday and had a really lovely time. The staff were a credit to this hotel. They were friendly and exceptionally helpful and added the personal touch, which is hard to find in any hotel both in the UK and abroad. We arrived after a day of travelling and Ed made some egg and bacon sandwiches that were really nice. It was clear he had made an effort. The room was warm, clean and well presented and had lots of extras including a DVD player, Ipod dock and trouser press and many other items. The hotel is located about 2 miles out of town and costs about £8 - £10 in a taxi. The breakfast was very nice and offered an abundance of food for all. I would also like to mention that we required a DAIRY FREE DIET and the hotel staff made sure they could cater for our needs and taken into consideration that cruise ships have struggled to meet our needs.

"Charming!”
This guest house/inn is a perfect spot for a stay when visiting Bath. It is a short bus ride away from the city itself, being located in a kind of suburb. It seems to be a throwback to less hectic times; and is totally charming in all respects. The room was small but very pretty. The full English breakfast was superb and the staff very friendly and welcoming. Parking is included at the rear of the building, a few steps from the front door. The gardens looked beautiful; and I would love to come back and see them when everything is in bloom. Coffee and tea in the lounge are complimentary; and we enjoyed a good hot cup of tea on a cold evening returning from a full day in Bath. Although I was with my sister this time, Bailbrook Lodge would be a perfect spot for a romantic getaway. I definitely will be back. People approaching Bailbrook Lodge by car must be careful not to confuse the entrance with that of Bailbrook House which is next door.

"Great Hotel”
Booked online without seeing Hotel and was pleasantly surprised. Location good for Bath, on foot or bus or Taxi. We arrived Easter weekend (Rugby also on that day) so traffic VERY heavy, but walked in and got bus back - stops right outside. Room (4-poster) was great, food and hospitality also 1st class. If you're travelling to Bath great choice.

"Excellent value spa break”
I really enjoyed the spa package offered by Bailbrook Lodge. For less than £200 per person, we had two nights accommodation, two generous breakfasts, an afternoon tea on the Saturday and entry to the spa in Bath. The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The food was good. The bedrooms are fairly small but everything was clean and the room size did not prove problematic. The B&B offers free car parking which is very welcome in Bath.

Towels were good quality, fluffy and clean, even slippers were provided. We had a lovely dinner in Bath at Jamie Oliver's Italian restaurant and enjoyed a lovely walk back (about 25 mins). Our room was lovely and warm on our return. Breakfast was a treat. An excellent choice including fresh prepared fruit, cereal, croissants, full English, salmon and scrambled egg, kippers etc. it arrived quickly and beautifully prepared. "A wonderful surprise”
My young daughter and I were looking for somewhere to stay spontaneously. It was evening and we saw the sign on the roundabout indicating The Bailbrook Lodge. We stopped outside the entrance, called them by phone, asking for a room. The answer was the most friendly and welcoming one you could wish for as if they had been waiting just for us. We spent one night at the Lodge. The room was cosy, warm, clean, the beds were lovely. My daughter was snuggling in her bed with a cup of tea, and we felt like we were home. The breakfast was delicious, and the atmosphere was friendly among all other guests. Definitely a place to return to.

"Great short stay”
Spent a couple of nights here using offer via Travelzoo. Had a fab large room with 4 poster bed. Arrived early but no problem in fact nothing was a problem and all staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great as was the included 3 course lunch at the sister hotel The Royal in Bath. Having a bus stop so close was a real bonus. Only down side was looking forward to a long soak in a red hot bath (having just come back from the Ice Hotel) but only had a wet room. Oh well - perhaps next time....... as we would happy return

I had been recommended to this charming Country Hotel by a Colleague and managed to get a 2 night break via the Travelzoo website. This well appointed friendly Hotel certainly lived up to expectations –t he breakfast was out of this world, the room was spotless and the staff could not be faulted in any way. Every member of staff that I encountered could not do enough for me and I will be visiting again once or maybe twice later in the year. I defy anyone to come away from The Bailbrook Lodge with anything other than a smile-it was a lovely relaxing stay and I will certainly spread the word-after all without my Colleague's recommendation, I would have missed a treat!

Me and my partner stayed here for his birthday this week. The hotel staff were so friendly and smiley. Our room (number 25) was incredible, very spacious with a huge 4 poster bed, made it hard to get up in the mornings because it was so comfy. Amazing shower and wet room. We had a beautiful view outside of our window onto the garden. A very quiet and peaceful place. Very easy to get into the city centre via the number 13 bus, also only cost about £7 to get from the centre back to the hotel in a taxi. Such a lovely place to stay. Thank you to everyone there for making it a lovely couple of days.

The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. The staff were all very nice and friendly and could not do enough for you .Food was of the highest order and lots of choice for breakfast. "Christmas Markets visit”
We visited Bath Christmas Markets and booked into The Bailbrook Lodge hotel which I found on the internet. I couldn’t have found better, the hotel was warm and comfortable, the food was excellent, and the staff could not have been more helpful, nothing was too much trouble, we were able to leave the car at the hotel and catch the bus into bath with the bus stop being 50 yards up the road. We are hoping to return to Bath in the summer of 2013 (that’s if we have one) and we will stay at the Bailbrook Lodge again. Many thanks for looking after us so well.

"A Good Experience”
We normally don’t stay this far out of town when visiting Bath. However I was delighted to find that the distance did not cause us any problems. There is a very good bus service into the city and the bus stop is about 200 meters form the lodge. On the occasion I did take the car into the city the journey was painless. Our room was very cosy and had all that we needed what a change to find that the wardrobe had more than enough coat hangers so we did not have to share. Breakfast was an occasion with a very good choice on the menu plus bucks fizz if you wanted. The staff  were very helpful to me and my wife who has advanced Alzheimer’s disease. Over breakfast they showed great patients and understanding. Unlike other accommodation in the city there was a good car park off road which was free. The lodge serves snacks throughout the day with a set meal in the evening; however we did not sample any food other than breakfast. I will certainly consider staying at the lodge if we visit the city again. My thanks to all for an enjoyable stay.

"Great break with very friendly and helpful staff”
Booked a 2 day break with an upgrade to one of the Four Poster rooms.Staff throughout the stay were polite, cheerful and helpful - great customer service. We loved the huge bedroom and shower room with all the usual facilities, and were even offered fresh milk with tea in the room.  A Gluten intolerance caused no issues at breakfast which was superb, and if your booking includes an afternoon tea - be prepared for sandwiches, crisps and a cream tea (no issue with the sandwiches- and an improvised cake with jam meant no Gluten issues again) we couldn't eat it all !!! The hotel is not right in Bath itself but we used the bus service and we were walking round the town within 15 minutes of leaving the hotel. A great break and would definitely go back.

We had an overnight stay at this hotel in October 2012, and couldn't have had better service or food.We were made really welcome on arrival and the bedroom and bathroom were beautifully clean but the thing that really won us over were the tea and coffee making facilities, complete with cafetiere, a really nice touch.Wish more hotels included one of these!

Upon arrival we were greeted by a very pleasant young man called Ed, who was absolutely charming and gave us a tour of the lodge. Later on in the evening we then met the lovely Justine who was a real delight and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble and she was so friendly, it was if we had known her for a long time unfortunately when we booked out she was not working but we will catch up with her when we stay again, hopefully this will be sometime in December. We stayed in Bailbrook Lodge on a Saturday night in October 2012 and were very impressed. As soon as we arrived the receptionist was delightful and helpful. Our room was beautiful, a huge room with four poster bed and shower room and lovely views of the garden. The owners have gone to great lengths to think of absolutely everything someone staying in the room might need.

We took a taxi into the centre of Bath which was very short - about 5 minutes drive.

The breakfast the next morning was wonderful - a huge choice and really delicious.

We would definitely recommend it and are looking forward to planning our next trip!

I wasn't sure about this property when I booked it, as I had left it very late to book accommodation in Bath, and nearly everything else was full. I think the reason that it was still available was probably because it is out of town, rather than the city center.

It was the best thing that could have happened.

The Lodge and the Hotel are next to each other, but no longer owned by the same operators. Make sure you book the Lodge, as it is terrific.

Our twin room, was small, but so charming and cosy that you overlooked it's size. The staff were super friendly, and were happy to accommodate us wherever they could. The room was very clean and had some little extra touches in with the usual tea/coffee items.

There was complimentary internet (which was a godsend), a lovely little guest lounge or sitting room and a nice breakfast room.

We were delighted that we booked this property and would have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

"Very friendly place with character”
I booked a twin room for my daughter and I before she has to go away. Booked on line hassle free and had the choice of booking flowers and champagne. When we arrived (earlier than 2 p.m. check-in time) the welcome was warm and friendly we were shown around and then shown to our room. Not huge but certainly enough room for both of us. Bathroom was a bit wow with slipper bath!.. And every thing was clean. View from room was of the garden and valley and although misty and wet would be spectacular on a sunny day.

There were nice touches such as slippers and tea and coffee making facilities including a cafetiere to make proper coffee...not seen this before and was a great touch for us coffee lovers...! Also iPod dock.

The flowers I requested were outstanding!!!... Champagne was pretty good too.

Breakfast was very good with plenty of selection to set you up for the day, and the staff were very smiley and friendly.

I would definitely stay again

"A lovely stay”
We've just returned from a weekend stay at Bailbrook. We had a four poster bedroom, which was a great size, clean and nice decor. Lots of nice touches like the slippers, freshly ground coffee and mineral water. There was a great choice of food at breakfast and it was all really tasty. We had an very warm welcome and the staff were all really friendly and helpful.

It's in a nice location, you can't hear road noise at all, and it's a lovely walk along the canal into the centre of Bath (we also did the Bath skyline walk and came down the hill from the Sham Castle track and along the river to get to the hotel - a bit muddy/steep in places!)
