Once every 4 years the National Summer Games is held as athletes from all over the country compete in a wide variety of events as part of the Special Olympics GB series. The National Summer Games comes to Bath in 2013 and is one of the most eagerly awaited sporting events this year. All of the athletes have an intellectual disability, which does not stop them from competing in the sports that they love. Go along and show your support and enjoy 5 days of exciting sporting action in the centre of Bath.
With approximately 1,700 athletes attending the National Summer Games there are bound to be a few “On the edge of your seat” moments. This 12 sport event includes some of our favourite sports such as Athletics, Artistic Gymnastics, Badminton, Short-Mat Bowls, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Table Tennis, Tennis and Swimming. Athletes of all ages and abilities will be there to compete with their coaches and supporters so come along and spectate.
The events are held at various places around the city of Bath and we expect a great turn out – so book your b and b in Bath early to avoid any disappointment. For full details of the games and how to support the athletes visit the National Summer Games website.
