Thanks to its compact design, Bath is a great city for a fleeting visit as everything you need to see is within each reach. For a central b and b in Bath choose Bailbrook Lodge, a listed hotel less than two miles from the centre of the city.
Don’t worry if you only have a day to see the city this time, you can experience the main landmarks with some careful planning before you get there. Firstly, join one of the city’s free walking tours to get your bearings and make sure you see everything important. Tours start outside the Pump Room every day at 10.30am and they take around 2 hours. Don’t fancy walking? Take one of the hop on / hop off bus tours instead as they leave at regular intervals throughout the day.
Next, we’d recommend taking a look around the Roman Baths. If this is the only attraction you have time for then we’d say do it, after all, they’re what made the city famous…the ruins are beautifully preserved and the attraction is as much fun for children as it is for the grown ups. Why not grab a bite to eat in the Pump Room before you go? This restaurant sat at the centre of Bath society for 200 years, so it’s an experience as much as an eatery.
