Wander just one mile from Bath and you’ll find yourself in open space and one of the West Country’s most beautiful landscaped gardens. Prior Park Landscape Garden dates back to the 18 century and their valley setting makes them one of the most peaceful spot in Bath.
The gardens were the creation of Ralph Allen, a local entrepreneur and the poet Alexander Pope – and the Palladian Bridge is the last of only three of its kind in England, and it’s one of the best vantage points to stand and reflect with the gardens in front of you.
Do you have some pressing New Year decisions looming? Prior Park Landscape Garden makes a tranquil place to roam, admire and feel inspired, and considering it’s so close to the city it feels a world and era away.
Look out for the wildlife that’s abundant throughout the gardens, especially the birds attracted by the feeders during the winter months. Why not hire one of the handy magnifying glasses available and see what you can spot in the grassy gardens? This is great fun for little ones during a visit.
Thinking of a spa break in Bath? These gardens are the perfect attraction for clearing your mind.
