There’s something about a King Arthur legend that many of us just can’t resist, and there’s one attached to the beautiful Little Solsbury Hill. The hill is thought to have been Mount Badon, the site of King Arthur’s most infamous battle (the battle of Badon Hill), so it still attracts Arthurians from all over the world keen to get a little closer to the truth behind the rumours.
Whether or not you’re into your Arthur tales, Solsbury Hill is a popular spot for a walk during a stay in a B and B in Bath and there’s just a short climb to the top where you’ll have one of the finest views across the city. There’s no sight quite like that of the sun setting in the Georgian city of Bath, and if you don’t mind a bit of a steep climb for a few minutes to reach the summit it’s well worth it. Fancy making an evening extra special? Why not pack up a picnic and sit back and enjoy the views for awhile?
Peter Gabriel fans often put this walk on their list of places to see in Bath, and we can only say that everything he wrote about this spot is true.
