While you’re in Bath enjoying all this wonderful city has to offer, you should take a walk to Beckford’s Tower. This little gem of a museum is not the best-known tourist attraction in the area but it’s without a doubt a little treasure that many people have stumbled upon and instantly loved.
Dedicated to William Beckford, a novelist, and one of England’s wealthiest men in the 18th and 19th century, this museum is full of his belongings, works and indications of his eccentricities. One of the best things about this mini-museum is the view from the top of the tower. You have to be prepared to climb a good few steps but once you reach the top you will have fantastic views of the countryside. You’ll be able to see parts of Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire from the beautiful tower that Beckford had built to house his collection of unique and rather interesting artifacts.
Why not stay in a bed and breakfast in Bath and enjoy a lovely and relaxing visit to this beautiful city before coming to the tower and escaping it all for a short while? It’s definitely worth the walk and the climb!
