Bath has been awarded the accolade of cleanest city in the UK in a new survey. The city was rated top just ahead of York by the readers of Condé Nast Traveller magazine and its website.
The Spa city of Bath is also the third most popular city according to the readers who took part in the annual questionnaire that was inserted into the magazine and also posted online, beaten only by London and Edinburgh.
Bath has invested heavily in street cleaning to help keep the city attractive to locals and visitors alike.
Sarah Miller, editor of Condé Nast Traveller, said: “The beauty of Bath scores incredibly highly as does York, and both of these cities are viewed as immensely well-kept and clean.”

Good news for those heading to the Bath festival of Children’s Literature, there has been a late addition to the line-up in the form of novelist Christopher Paolini.
The 28 year old Californian is making an unexpected visit to the UK and will appear at the Guildhall in Bath on the 30th September.
Paolini is the acclaimed author of the popular Inheritance Cycle series which includes books Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr and inheritance of which the young author has sold over 25 million copies.
Christopher gained much attention when he self published his first book Eragon which was then turned into a major Hollywood movie in 2006.
Fans of the series can look forward to the author’s last instalment in which he promises to answer the burning questions that have been left open during the books.
