"Hotel with a difference” at Christmas

For Christmas 2011 our children and their partners bought us two nights away in Bath at  Bailbrook Lodge. It was a small, elegant Georgian hotel with just 15 bedrooms. We were welcomed at reception and taken to our room 'The Jane Austen Suite'. The room was large with a high ceiling and fireplace; there was a lovely four poster bed, satellite TV, hairdryer and trouser press together with coffee and tea making facilities, biscuits, mineral water and toiletries. There was an en-suite shower room. There were also bath robes and slippers at the end of the bed. There was a bay window which overlooked the lovely garden and beyond. We unpacked and went downstairs for a complimentary drink of tea (or coffee); there we met some other guests. The lounge room was very comfortable and cosy. Next morning we went down for breakfast which was excellent; there were cereals, fruit, yoghurt and you were given a choice of tea or coffee and could have a full English breakfast or other choices on the menu including kippers. You were also given toast and marmalade and complimentary champagne is also available on the breakfast buffet table. The next day we visited Bath which is a fascinating city to look round. We ate at Brasserie Brunel in the evening and the food there was excellent. We found the hotel to be very clean and tidy and the staff were friendly and very helpful. We would definitely return to Bailbrook in the future; a lovely relaxing stay which we would thoroughly recommend.
